Speakers with Pioneer 1019

I just purchased a Pioneer 1019 audio receiver, which specs at 120W/channel. I have a nice pair of Bose cube speakers that I plan on using for the rears.
I was looking at getting a package of Polk speakers to complement my rear Bose speakers. Here are the speakers I am considering:
2 TSi300 fron floor standing speakers
1 CS10 center speaker
1 PSW10 sub woofer (possible the PSW111?)
My question is: Would this be an appropriate setup to work in conjunction with my Pioneer 1019? Is it overkill? Would lesser speakers from Polk still be appropriate with my receiver? I would be using it mostly for Home Theatre use, with occasional music listening... but mostly for Home Theatre usage...
Also, I hear that using speakers of the same manufacturer often help to kepp a consistent sound; will using my Bose speakers in the rear (even though they are quality speakers) have a negative effect on that, compared to if I used Polks for the rear?

Your receiver will drive the speakers you mentioned just fine. Overkill.......not really possible in the audio world, lol. As far as your Bose speakers are concerned, I would not use them (you can technically use them yes, but if the budget allows for it, I would choose another option). If you are going for a ht setup and using Polk for your mains and center I would also use Polk for the surrounds. As far as the sub is concerned the psw10 is best for small rooms. -
If price starts becoming an issue, would going with Polks R/T/M models suffice? And if I decided to go for the higher model on 1 or 2 of the speakers, which would be most critical? Going with the better fronts, sub-woofer, and center (in order of "importance"?)

Most critical is your two main speakers. You will use them for 2 channel and for ht. Imo I would upgrade a little at a time to get the best quality speakers you can afford. If you jump in all at one time you may wish you didn't in the long run. I made the wrong decision and bought everything very rushed just to say I had a complete setup. I hated the sound and had to upgrade from the cheap stuff. In the end, it was a lesson learned and one I never want to repeat.
Order of importance-
1.mains
2.cc (some omit the cc cause their receivers can do a 'phantom' channel and simulate the cc. They instead buy the rears or sub first then the cc later. Really depends on how you want to upgrade and what you can live without for the time being).
3. rears
4.subwoofer (if you have good mains you can live without a sub for a little while. Save up for a good sub...it makes all the difference in 2 channel and ht to fill in the low frequencies where your mains drop off). -

Would you consider TSi300 front floor standing speakers good enough mains- "good enough" meaning I could use these without the help of a sub for a while? -

Yes to both questions. Remember though, what is good enough to one person may not be good enough for another. Also, remember that these are only $400.00 a pair speakers. They are very nice speakers for their price point. The TSi300 are not going to rattle the walls with bass, but they should hold you over till you get a sub to compliment them. -

Bang for the buck I would look at the Polk Direct Ebay Store. They have really good prices and you may be able to pick up an extra piece with the savings.
Thanks for your help BigMac, I will check that out.... -

I edited my post because as I was typing my response I was checking Polk direct and I only saw the Tsi500 for $599.00. Imo you are smart to do it a little at a time. In the long run you will appreciate your setup that much more by adding quality over quantity. Good luck and Welcome to CP. -
Ended up buying a pair of refurbished TSi 500's from Polkdirect on eBay. Total cost with tax and shipping was $492. Not bad for a pair of speakers that retail for $800. The question now is, what next? A center, rears, or a sub...
I figure the TSi500's will provide more bass than the 300's, so I can probably hold off on the sub for now. It seems the CS20 center is the appropriate choice to go along with the 500's... but what about rears? TSi100's or RM8's? -
Will my Pioneer VSX-1019 be able to push these speakers adequately now? They require 20-275 w/channel. My Pioneer puts out 120W/channel as per specs; but I've read that it is more like 90W/channel... I suppose these will still sound "fuller" that the 300's... Should I be worried when I hook up all 5.1 speakers (eventually)!

Like all have said, go with Polk's for surround duty, you could even pick up a set of r150's for under $100.Polk Audio Surround Bar 360

Your receiver will be able to drive these speakers just fine. No you should not be worried when running everything in 5.1 if you stick with 8 ohm rear speakers and a 8 ohm cc. Now if you REALLY crank the volume to insane levels your receiver may go into protection mode or you could even blow your tweeters from your receiver clipping. It would take alot for this to happen though. In the future if you want more power for your main speakers you will need to get a receiver that has preouts so you can hook up an external amp. -
Thanks BigMac for your help...

No problem. I am no expert but I do understand this ht stuff pretty well. If I were building this system I would stick with TSi100 or if your budget can handle it the TSi200 for rears since you purchased the TSi500. For a cc I would stick with the TSi as well. That way everything will already be voice matched and you will not have to play around trying to find speakers that sound good together. Polk has already done that for you. Imo I would sell the Bose on CL or something to try and make a little money back......just my .02. Congrats on your speaker purchase. Take some pics and post them once you get em' setup. -
Thanks for your .02, it is appreciated! I think I will try and stick with the TSi line, and slowly get all the components I need.. I will post some pics up as soon as I receive the 500's and set them up. TV is a Panasonic TC-P50G10 plasma; can't wait to get it all connected!
