Bad car speaker issues-Punch P1683C
Was making bad vibrating sounds, then I removed and switched power wires because I thought maybe I had them backwards, that didn't work. I let it go... then one day i smelled something burning. Then the speaker made a high pitched sound. So I switched the wires back around and then it worked for a few seconds then had a high pitched rumbling distortion.

Sorry Alex, not familiar with that problem. I can say with *some* confidence that I'm pretty sure the wiring polarity had nothing to do with the problem. Hooking speaker wires up backwards in *MOST* cases will only result in that speaker being "out of phase" which is never a fatal condition to my knowledge. I'm no expert, but I have done more than a few mobile audio installs in my day. If it were me and I heard "vibrating sounds" I would check that the driver is securely mounted. Mostly though, you don't give enough info for a good diagnosis. (where the driver is mounted, is it amped?, type and rating of amp? among other things could help narrow down the problem) Good luck, and welcome to Club Polk
