hi..i currently have an lsi surround with the 25's and running the subs off the preout...i have a dedicated theater room that is 18x12..so far is sounds great but im wondering if i should leave the subs as is or throw them back on with the mids and get an external sub like an svs....i can feel the bass now but im addicted and want to feel more and i think i should be getting into something that hits a little lower...whats is your opinion?

I like them a lot. My next sub upgrade will be another SVS (ultra), or one of the Epik subs....

You cannot go wrong with an svs. The only time I think you should grab a polk sub such as the micro would be in space constrained rooms. I have the pb12 ultra and I couldn't expect more from a sub.

Compared to the subs built into a LSi25???? They are incredible. You will not regret it for a second. (even though you may have to wait for it)

With that being said - they are not the only high end game in town....

    Ed
    Epik
    HSU

    Outlaw (HSU designed)

are all excellent in their own right. Based on the fact that are willing to go with SVS - I assume that means that size is not a big factor in your decision... if it is at all, don't forget to consider the Polk MicroPro series as well.

with movies - always small. With music - it varies, but typically large w/o the sub.

ok now why would you set the lsi25's to small if they can do full range?

I use my sub all the time and I can't see the point in removing it from the system. From time to time I lower the gain if I am watching a movie with alot of LFE response. I only had the speakers for a few days now but I can't see myself removing the subwoofer from the mix. If anything I am going to up the crossover on the Polk so they sound alittle bit warmer in the bass that do have.

I also have the gain the LSi25 on about 3/4 but maybe I like alot of bass.

The LSi25 crosses over to the 10" woofer at 80hz. If you are running that or higher as your crossover point - that could be the reason you have the volume turned up so high (not that it matters, but just so you know - the LSi15 crosses over at 150hz).

With the 25's - I would set the crossover at 60 or 100hz. Running two crossovers at 80hz (in your avr and in the speaker) just seems like a bad idea to me.

Definately need a sub for LFE. As above, which model did you get? Can't go wrong with SVS.
