Denon DVD2800

So I had intentions of getting a DAC as posted on another thread I had created. I do appreciate all the insight and info everyone's provided but, just like everything else in life, things change. A friend of mine came by today and, like always, helped me out in ways that a friend can lend a hand. I've got a receiver upgrade, a "slightly" modified moscode back which he worked on for me, and the pleasure of borrowing his player. Enough of that, lets get down to the point.
I wasn't much of a believer when it came to different types of players. Call me narrow minded if you must, but I assure you I do believe in the different sounds an amp, receiver, preamp and cables can provide. It wasn't until I hooked up the Denon DVD2800. Music just came to life. The width of my soundstage had no ends to it, the clarity of my highs knew no bounds and I couldn't stop listening to music to finish setting up my system all over again. CD after CD I went through from the bass played by Justin Chancellor (Tool), or the melodious voice of Sade, and the strumming of Jimi Hendrix' guitar, everything came alive. It didn't stop there, I even went through CD's that belonged to my wife such as Chevelle, Bon Jovi and more. I've fallen in love with my SDA's all over again and I would have to thank dracos for letting me borrow his player and giving me the pleasure to hear music the way it should be heard. Definitely not something I even intended on getting, but I think this is something even my wife will have accept. Funny thing is, I look around online for used models and I can easily find 2900's and so forth everywhere, but not many 2800's and I can see why. This isn't a "top of the line" or "audiophile" must have, but for anyone whos on a budget, if you can find one of these things....don't walk, RUN!

You didn't believe in the differences that could be had from the source? Damn...the source is what's playing the music in the first place.;) It can have one of the biggest effects on the final outcome of your sound.
Now you know.;) This hobby is endless isn't it?...lol
I'm getting a Denon 2910 for my 2 channel rig in the near future. It's supposed to be a VERY solid SACD/Redbook player. I've heard nothing but praise for them as far as their 2 channel capabilities. The nirvana inducer-

I kept an open mind about things, maybe I came off a little too conclusive. And yes curt, this hobby does not know any bounds either lol. Congrats on your new player, hey if you want I've got a Sam Cooke SACD that I can't use or don't need and you're welcome to have it. Btw heres the Denon player in my rig....its pretty damn big for a player in my experience with other players.Truck setup

Hmm...I might take you up on that offer. I've gotta get out that way sometime and get my ears on those 1C's with the Moscode anyway!:)
What are you using as a pre?
I'm definitely looking forward to getting the 2910. Hopefully I should be getting it in a few more weeks...
Sal-Not sure if you were talking to me or Kawi...I'd love to take one of the 3910's off your hands...but I've already got a great deal lined up for a 2910.:)The nirvana inducer-

I had a 2800II and agree they are great players...and HDCD decoded disks are a real treat.

You know I think you guys have inspired me. I was going to dump my Denon DVD5900 for the new Oppo Blu-Ray player, but the 5900 really sounds great. Perhaps I'll keep it and get the Oppo too! Now all I have to do is convince my husband! LOL! DJ:)

Heh anytime man, stop on by and get some tunes in. I also just got that receiver yesterday (it has pre outs and is a beast compared to the 1604) so Im using it as a pre now, my other pre was a Kenwood C-1.
I appreciate the offer Sal, I don't doubt that the 3910 is a great player but as always Ive already been pushing it by getting stuff I wasnt even planning on getting. You know I think you guys have inspired me. Lol no problem debussyj, I kind of steered away from that option and just used my bluray played as my cdp. Even considered getting a DAC and had posted a thread on here for recommendations, but after I heard this thing I couldnt stop listening to it.Truck setup

I heard my first HDCD on a 2800 back in the day and have to say I was amazed at the sound quality from the Denon. I was even more impressed when I found it was a universal player and not a dedicated CDP. For the money they sell for today it is a super good buy.
