Has anyone given any thought to making their audio and/or video systems low power? I mean with global warming causing all the cold weather in the past several years you have to be thinking about it. :D

I'm thinking of high sensitivity speakers, flea powered class D amps, DC powered sources, maybe a solar panel to keep the batteries charged etc. The DC power alone falls right in line with super high end audiophile equipment as does high efficiency speakers. If done correctly I think we could have some very high end sounding systems which use pretty much zero power.

And think of the polar bears.

I am thinking about going solar powered for all my stereo systems. And also a yes on the High Sensitivity Speakers. DC Powered Sources Also sounds very good. But No Flea Powered Class D for now.

Zero power from the utility company means we are going down the recession even faster than we already did. :D

I was actually thinking about the idea of having two dedicated outlets that would be completely fed by solar panels off the grid. I don't care about being green, but it would be cool to power my own rig and I'd hope that being a closed system would lower the line noise.

I went with a green power supply, motherboard, and hard drive for my music server.

I think solar/wind power generation is the way to go, with a closed system and some type of battery storage for those evening listening sessions. With the way things are going we might all be listening to Radio Free Montana stations on our portable crank powered AM radios from the bunker.

Yeah, thats a great station, I listen to it all the time on SW. :D

I guess a little single ended EL-84 amp might be able to provide enough power with some real high eff speakers to keep us away from class D amps.

A turntable has a lot of possibilities to keep it turning.
