    I unwind with this album

The feeling Alison's voice leaves me with, I would not describe as 'unwound', if you know what I mean...:D

well I consider this one of my favorite albums.
right next to "the dark side of the moon" and "the last waltz"

mark knopfler is ranked number 27 of the 100 greatest guitarplayer
    by the rolling stone magazine

    although i have to say:
jimmy page only being a 9...i can not agree with that.

I read somewhere that Chet Atkins once called Mark Knopfler "the best guitar player alive". I know they were good friends. That's a hefty compliment coming from Chet.
Dire Straits is definitely one of my most favorite bands. "Sultans of Swing" changed my perpective on what rock 'n roll was "supposed" to sound like when I was kid.
With both Chester and Lester dead, I would have to say he is right. ;)

There's lots of really fine guitar players so trying to come up with a top 100 would be rather difficult. It's all subjective I guess. Still, Clapton at #4?? I don't think so. Frank Zappa is 45?? I bet he could play circles around Clapton. No Eric Johnson? No Larry Carlton? And, if it's not just electric guitarists, I can think of several that deserve mention. Leo Kottke?

This is Rolling Stone's list from a few years ago:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5937559/the_100_greatest_guitarists_of_all_time/

A good read. Readers wrote many of their own opinion lists afterwards.

I've been trying to get my hands on that one. Hard to find and very expensive.
