That ad should be going bye bye soon, I'm pretty sure those are the ones I picked up today :) they are beautiful in looks and sound. A bit weak on the bass end, especially compared to the monitor 10As that they replaced, but not as bad as I expected after some of the reviews/comments I saw. But I love them!

Good Job. I was tempted but would have had to sell my 11T's which i wasnt comfortable with at the moment. Would love to Demo those sometime though.

    What happened to the 10's?

well TBH I have no plan to sell them, they are my first Polks, and they are what led me to you guys, so between that and the fact that they sound so freakin awesome... But life is weird, and ya never know what's around the next corner, so if that changes, I'll holler your way first.
As for a demo on the Maggies, I don't have a real rig yet, and even if I get one soon, my space is not great. I am setting up in my buddy's garage (which is where I do my ebay stuff- kinda my office) so not much room or acoustic yummyness. But you're not far, and they're pretty light. I could toss 'em in the truck and come over some time. Or worst case I'll bring them to CaligulaPolk's place for the Oct meet-up...

So, as I have mentioned before, I'm pretty green when it comes to the world of hi-fi. I have gotten my feet wet in the mid-fi arena (entry level HK and Infinity stuff mostly) and although there is a big difference in sound quality vs low end stuff, I was not at all prepared for the detail in the Maggies. I Don't have a "real" pre-amp, so I borrowed an old Onkyo tuner from a friend that has inputs for other stuff, and hooked them up without the Rotel. Added my trusty Original Playstation (CD Player). I also figured since the Onkyo has A/B A+B speaker outs I could hook the mon 10a's to the B channels and compare. I popped in a CD (Rush - A Retrospective) and went to listening. The first track (Spirit of Radio) was nice, but nothing really stood out. If anything, I was actually a bit underwhelmed with the sound, and thought maybe either the Maggies were broken, or maybe all these years of driving a giant speaker around had finally taken their toll on my hearing. Track skip ahead to 2112, an album that I spent uncountable hours listening to in my teen years, and know like an old friend. It was at this point I decided that the recording of that particular version of Spirit of Radio must have been bad. I heard things I NEVER heard before in there. The sound of the guitar coming through the vocals instead of blending in with them, the sound of individual strings as the pick strummed across them, the separation of chimes from cymbals. It was like a new song. And it was beautiful. But they really need a sub, the lows are just not there. And so I turned on the 10a's, and restarted the songs (2112 is followed by Temple of Syrynx- as it should be IMO) I had to defeat the bass alot to keep the Polks from overpowering the Maggies, apparently they are more (efficient?) (powerful?) (louder!) than the Maggies, but together they were so awesome I called my wife over to my buddy's house to hear them.

Although she has always thought I was crazy, and said she rarely if ever hears a difference when I come and tell her "check this out"... just shakes her head and tosses me one of those "That's nice baby" kinda things. I told her just close your eyes and listen, see if you notice ANY difference at all...She wanted to hear "Closer to the Heart" as her test track. I cued it up and stepped back... She closed her eyes and I pressed start. She listened for almost a minute before she opened her eyes, and I thought "Great, she still thinks I'm nuts" And then she looked at me and nodded, and smiled and went back to listening without a word. And when it was over she smiled and said "That was RIGHT"

    I almost wet myself!
So now I can't wait to get a pre-amp and put some juice in them, but my question is, since the Rotel only has 2 channels how can I hook up both sets of speakers? or add a sub to them? will I need another amp? or a different one with more outputs? so many questions, and I need help.
Thanks for listening to my story, and thanks in advance for the advice I know is coming!

Glad to hear you are enjoying them.

Your gonna need a pre with sub out to run a sub. You would need a seperate 2chl amp to drive the 10's. IMO i would keep them seperate. Never heard the Maggies but im sure a lil sub in the corner wouldnt hurt buy adding a lil bass but some might consider that hogwash.
