pondering on speaker life

How long do speakers last?
How often do you need to replace your speakers?
How long are these supposed to last when manufacturers design them?
Is it worth buying used speakers?
Do speakers have shelf lives?
How long before they start to deteriorate?
How would you know if a speaker is still fresh and have not been extensively used?
These questions came to mind again when I saw an ad for a pair of ex365 which I think are about 10 years old. Through the years, I really never had the answers. Anyone out there who would want and care to answer before I reach my senior moments?

so, they are built to last, huh? -
it would depend on the speaker design and materials used.
how hard they are driven and abused.
the environment greatly affects the speakers.
the alternating extreme of hot and cold along with the humidity.
Taking care and maintenance is a contributing factor
and sometimes things just fail.
You can ask the original manufacturer if they have any statistics regarding
their failure rates. -

Mine apparently are, at least....
They're sitting in pretty terrible conditions. I have no interior in the car, just exposed black metal all around, sitting in hot summer sun. They've been through -30 degree weather. They've been drenched when i left my windows down, etc etc etc...I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
