I have been listening to my new lsi15s for a week now.At first I must say I did not like the sound at first:mad:.I am powering them with a onkyo 876 and rotel amp 500watts@4omhs.

But after I used the audyessey setup on the onkyo the sound improved alot real clear sound:).The only problem now is the bass its ok for music but I like lots of bass and for movies especially.

I have the lsi15s in a small room and know the sound would improve alot if I had them in a bigger room.Anyway I am sure a powered sub would work well with my lsi15s and thats where I need help to choose one my budget is around 400EURO any advice guys

Are your LSI's new? If so you should wait till you have about 100 hours on them. Speakers need a break time. Then decied if you still need a sub.

If you do decied to add a sub I suggest a Sunfire True sub.
Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

LSi15's should be good on their own for music. For home theater, a sub is definitely needed.

I've heard they should have at least 400 hours on them to really even out the bass.

I think its a general rule for many speakers give or take a few hundred hours. My RTia9s had muddy bass when I first received them. After a little break-in (500 hours) they really sounded much better.

It depends on how much bass you like in your movies.

If you want impactful bass that can play as low and as loud as a movie soundtrack is meant to sound (or louder) you'll need a larger driver. Its physics!

I have 4 LSi15s in my HT/SACD multi-channel room. I never use a sub for music, and only rarely for movies. The only time a sub is necessary is if you want crazy bass for explosions, etc. I use a PSW1000 sub, and it is more than adequate for crazy bass.
Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

hmmm . . . I bet the bass will continue to tighten up over time, but I imagine you will still want some more quantity. Get a sub.

Yes - for home theater you need a subwoofer. What is the size of your room? (include any rooms that cannot be closed off from your home theater - need width, depth and height of the rooms)
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

LSI-15's are great for music even without a sub, but for the full HT expeireince you'll need to add a sub......I have the DSW PRO 600 and it's very good for HT, but if you want to really shake the house look at the SVS.

My LSI's didn't really mellow out until I had about 60 to 100 hours on them.....I also found room placement to be more critical with the side firing woofer, so move them around and see if the sound changes.

Im really want one of these SVS PB 12 plus subs now after checking it out and reading other reviews. It is bout 3 times my original budget like almost everything else I have bought for my home cinema but I know it would be more than worth it.Anyone know best site to buy one let me know:).

Im thinking though maybe this sub might be too much:confused: for my tiny room even though i like lots of bass.

    What do you guys think?

It's amazing how you always end up changing your mind and going with something that's way over your budget...lol...I've been afflicted with this problem a few times myself.

There's no such thing as overkill. You set the sub up to work in your individual room...you just won't have to crank it as much.

Best thing is, if you move into a new place with a bigger room, you'll be all set.:)

I have 2 of the 25-31 + series subs. (the short cylinder's) They are just awesome. For home theater though - I wish I had the middle sized one. (just digs a little deeper)

I have both mine set for a 20hz tune and get a solid in-room response down to about 17hz.

I have a pair of SVS cylinder's. I rock the passive subs 20-39's. They don't make passive subs anymore but I can vouch for the quality. Make no mistake, they are huge- my cylinders are about 4 feet high and 18 inches diameter. Honestly the size is a plus since everyone comes in and is immediately impressed :D

A pair of subs will make you realize what home theater is all about. Put in Black Hawk down or Master and Commander on BR and people will be talking about your room for weeks.

P.S. If you are buying a pair, call and ask for a discount since you are buying two. They may not give it to you but will throw SOMETHING in for free.
