The asswit parked where he wasn't supposed to and got towed. It is his own damn fault and he had no reason at all to be such a **** to the girl behind the counter who was just doing her job.

He's just another ignorant child looking for fame on YouTube. What a ****.

That is the problem with most of these little productions. They forget that they're not doing anything to punish teh person who actually wronged them, but instead are just causing stress for someone who had nothing to do with their problems.

I can't stand to watch the whole video, but I hope the girl made him sit and wait while she counted to make sure it was all there. "YOu can have your car when I've determined that you've paid in full."

I would normally agree with you guys, but have any of you ever dealt with a towing/impound company? They're usually are the biggest sc*mbags going. And this is coming from someone who used to work for a repo company.

Just reading the thread title reminded me of "**** pennies" on funnyordie.com

Unfortunately, this one wasn't nearly as funny.

That guy is a total idiot.

He parked his car illegally...and it got towed. So pay the fine...simple.

Did the girl behind the counter tow his car? No... Did she request that his car be towed? No... In fact, she had nothing at all to do with his car being towed, yet it was her day that got ruined over these idiots trying to "make a statement". Not to mention that cops got pulled away from doing things of actual importance to deal with this guy being a whiny idiot.

I'm not positive, but it looks like she didn't even end up accepting the pennies at the end. The guy mentioned something about "thanks for lending me the money...I'll pay you back" to one of the guys he was with.

Legal tender doesn't mean they have to take it. Business' do not have to take pennies just like they don't have to take $100 bills. See the comments in the youtube video.

There is a difference. Most businesses dont force you to use their service. A tow company on the other hand, has your car, and they have to take what you give them.

Reminds me of a news story I saw a couple years ago where a guy tried to pay some traffic/parking ticket with pennies. I do not remember the details but he had been making himself a pain in the a$$ and had already tried to fight it when he showed up in court to pay it with the pennies. The judge was not impressed and added a contempt of court to it.

    Justice served.

**** parked illegally and got towed. Deal with it.

The video wasn't funny and lets hope a future possible employer finds it and throws his dumb **** out. What was the cost to the town to have 4 police cars sitting there. Moron.

If they don't want to take it, it's their problem, the payment has been offered with legal currency and they refused, their problem. If such was to go to court, the business should loose.

I've heard opposite story. What you are saying for that judge, I don't call it justice served but ratter power abuse served! Legal tender is legal bottom line and any judge with tiny bit of brain and justice concern wouldn't go the route you have mentioned, only someone that enjoys power trips!

    Cheers!

Again, who are you trying to punish / prove your point to?

The tow company / guy who towed your car will likely never have to deal with any of the ramifications of you trying to be an **** and pay with pennies.

Instead, some high school chick they hired at minimum wage will have to spend hours counting and rolling coins, and the owners / operators of the place don't give two ****. So all you did was waste your day fighting with a girl and ruin her day. Great job! You really showed the man on that one.

They should accept it, but as I said above, make the a-holes who tried to pay in pennies wait until every penny is counted and accounted for before releasing the car. "I don't know if you're just trying to rip us off; until I can verify that you paid in full, you can't have your car. 1.... 2.... 3.... 4...."

I bet he'd whip out his ATM card pretty quick.

I'm sure the PD blew off three rape 911 calls and an armed robbery...

****. There was nothing else going on, or those cops would have been called off in a second.

The ticketting and towing is **** anyway (government gimics to full their coffer, autorities bullying of citizens) therefore, I feel it is a good way for him to get his moneys worth! What ever it costed the PD and towing facilites on that day is minimum satisfaction  Personnally, I would have made sure I had the time to devote to wait for the clerk to count the pennies and would have enjoyed every moment of it :D Satisfaction garanteed

I was always under the impression that (in Canada anyways) the vendor has the right to refuse cash moneys owed when a higher denomination is possible (in this case.... I dunno... BILLS maybe?) This would apply for anyone paying a fine, or a bill for anything like a telephone, electricity, etc.

I could be wrong, but I was sure I read about this somewhere.

See quote above, from same thread. Yes a business can refuse to take the money, but this is a different matter.

I didn't see in the vid anything mentioned about where he was parked. There are many legitimate tow away zones. Fire hydrants, private property, double parking/blocking traffic and/or access to private property.

The kid was just being a smarta$$ punk. I'm willing to bet he simply felt the NO PARKING Tow Away Zone were not for him. Arragent self centered spoiled kid.

Exactly. I'm sure they didn't tow his car just for **** and giggles. They had a legit reason for doing it.

People like him usually have the mind set that those laws aren't for him. They're for all the "other" people...the people that aren't as important as he is. Obviously such parking laws don't apply to idiots of his stature.

    I mean.... he paid.....

He never once said that he felt he didn't have to pay... So he knew the law applied to him.

With my dealings with towing companies and how the ones around me treat people, i may consider doing this in the future simply on principle, even if i DO agree that i should have been towed.

Maybe this will apply to the BMV or traffic court cashier from now on, too.
