G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra

An okay movie. Looks like a long advertisement for future Hasbro toys. Lots of CGI. Acting is mediocre but that's not why you show up for this type of movie. Fun action flick and the girls make good eye candy. Loved the baroness. Die-hard Joe fans will likely be disappointed. I did read the original issue #1 - 30+ as a kid. The ending is open for part 2.

Avoid if you hate X-men, Transformers type of comic book hero movies.

Been looking forward to this for awhile. I kinda like the Transformers-style blow-$hit-up type movies now and again. They make for mindless entertainment and usually make great additions to the BluRay collection. Here hoping for as kick a$$ explosions with lots of eye candy mixed in!

Just got out of this one. I really enjoyed it! Good dumb summer action flick with some nice sound! Plus, freakin' ninjas! I recommend it if you feel like turning off the ole' thinkbox for a while and watching stuff blow up.

I do wish they had done a fake G.I. Joe public service announcement at the end though. ;)

I'm trying to remember GI Joe from my youth. Was the original concept futuristic like the movie? My instinct says no.

Yeah, I know I watched every GI Joe episode and played with the action figures growing up, but I can't remember specifics of the "plot" per se.

I do clearly remember the public service announcements that ended with "Now you know, and knowing is half the battle." Usually regarding things like don't play with power lines and don't walk infront of a moving semi-truck.

I'm guessing the fact that they shot lasers at each other kind of made it futuristic.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

So you know... Dennis Quaid does drop a "Well, now we know... and knowing is half the battle." during the movie. :D

I saw something about them changing GI Joe from being an American Soldier to some non-descript type of soldier thing so as not to offend anyone blah blah blah.........

Ill probably see this. I was a HUGE GI Joe fan back when I was a little kid. Storm Shadow was always my favorite. Im sure this wont be true to what I grew up with but it looks entertaining enough to be worth it.

Saw it on Saturday. Im a big Joe fan and I'd say they were muche closer to the cartoon and comic series than Transformers was. I'd say it was a good fun flick. Just check your brain at the counter before watching.

The only problems I had were 2:
    1) The movie was, well, excessively corny/cheesy/hokey. But hey, I can deal with it.
    2) The CG was poor in some scenes. That is NOT something I can deal with in a movie like this.

    The two rules to CG:
    1) If you could have filmed it live action and you CG it, and we can tell its CG, you should have live actioned it.
    2) If you couldn't live action it and you CG it, and we can tell its CG, you shouldn't have included the scene.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

Saw this and Sienna Miller in those skin tight leather suits made it completely worth it! If they let her have her British accent I think I would have messed my pants!

Other than that, the movie was corny and cheesy. To a fault at times.

Do not go expecting some deep plot. It's literally the same stuff as the cartoon with some neat twists involved.

Do go and suspend your belief in reality.

Do go expecting just over 2 hours of non-stop action.

Do go because the kid in you likes going to the movies and this is one of those movies that the kid in you just wants to see.

Otherwise, typical action hero movie and I think they did do G.I. JOE justice. Although I think Tatum Channing as Duke was the corniest character of the bunch. The most convincing character was Sienna Miller as the Baroness. She actually was quite good. Well, Snake Eyes was pretty damn good too but Ray Park had an easy part, no lines to remember, just remember how to kick some crazy **** and he did it to a T.

I forgot she was the blonde in Layer Cake.

I really need to go see this...the trailer looks awesome..and yes, Sienna Miller was the blonde from Layer Cake (with the now-James Bond, Daniel Craig)...to me she looks like she's in her 30s...in a good way, that is - still very elegant and gorgeous..

lol saw on tv that Tatum was a nude dancer at a nightclub for a while...
