Laptop with HDMI

Hey guys,

I am probably getting a new laptop, mostly for my girlfriend's work, as she will be traveling for work a bit more in the next month or so, and she needs it to connect to her work network. My thought was to get one with HDMI to connect to our TV, so we can make good use of them together with a wireless mouse and keyboard. So where can I find a cheap laptop with HDMI out? And some that I have seen have HDMI out, but their own display is far less than 1920x1080, can they still output 1920x1080 with the correct display drivers?

Thanks!

DVI in my experience was always easier to find and those work well with DVI to vga and/or HDMI adapters. Goodluck with your search though!

Here is the Dell I'm using right now that I purchased for my wife which has HDMI output. Has been running like a top every since I purchased it other than my kids downloading a game that corrupted it which has been fixed. Great laptop for the price with plenty of everything. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9353371&type=product&id=1218090330700

So can you guys run 1920x1080 even if the laptop display won't support that? Does it detect the new display through HDMI and allow you to change to the higher resolution?

You'll have to switch it over to HDMI-only (nothing on the laptop screen) before it will allow a different resolution from the laptops native. I haven't actually tried it, but there's a Sony Vaio at work with HDMI that I'll have to bring home for "testing" one of these nights.

I saw that one, seems like a good price. I was also considering a dell mini with HDMI, but this one is only $80 more, and seems like a much better machine.

    Thanks guys!

My Hp has HDMI on it and it works very well going out to a tv with HDMI or DVI (with an adapter cable).

This Dell has displayport... i'll see how it does with displayport to dvi and displayport to hdmi....

I would stay away from the Mini unless you grab the extended warranty.
We use them at work , and the have a high failure rate, especially the keybd's.

I have a Dell w/HDMI output; we hook it up to our older HD TV via HDMI-to-DVI interface cable (Radio Shack) and watch HULU reruns all the time!

My Dell Studio XPS 16 has an HDMI. I haven't used it yet since I ran out of HDMI inputs on my plasma.

I just picked up a Sony Vaio VGN-NW150J at Best Buy last night. Both my personal laptop and my girlfriend's crapped out within the last week.

Liking it so far, for the most part. It's lightning fast most of the time with 4GB of RAM and 2.1 GHz duo core T6500 processorm but occassionally it bogs down for unexpected reasons.

I'm going to blame that and a couple strange error messages here and there on Vista. Can't wait for my free upgrade to Windows 7.

Anyone else have this model, or others I should look at in the $600 - $800 range? This one looks AWESOME and has HDMI and Bluray, which is nice. . .
