Xbox 360 DVD Playback

So I figured the 360's DVD playback would at least be decent, but I haven't been all that impressed. I also found this review which slams the 360 pretty hard. (But does use factual evidence to support the claims.)

Basically, the 360 is horrible at dealing with jaggies and aliasing. I'm using a VGA cable currently. Would these problems become non-existent if I used an HDMI cable. Wouldn't this send a digital signal to my Marantz SR5003 receiver and allow it to do all the video processing??

Thanks for your help.

No, HDMI wouldn't help. The Xbox 360 does not have a good de-interlacing chip. Get yourself one of those inexpensive Toshiba XDE DVD players if you want good DVD playback for not much money. (model is XD-E500)

I've never noticed any poor quality with the HDMI cable.
Then again, I have the sound quality of a great home theatre and a 20 in tv...

I have to sit 8ft back from the screen... Everything looks better that far away.

It's as if, if I close my eyes, I am in a movie theatre... When I open them, I'm watching the movie on a screen the size of a postage stamp.

Sounds like you need to be shopping the Black Friday sales this year.
