Hi,
I have polk audio front three speaker but I need to buy Read surround sound speakers. Is FXI30 good choice or should I get bookshelf speakers.
My room does not have the back wall, there is Kitchen there so I will need to mount on the side walls on the back. Any help....

What front three speakers do you have?

Welcome to the Forum!
It depends on how much you want to spend and your dedication. A pair of bookselfs to match your mains would be good for SACD/DVD-A, but a good pair of di-pole/bi-pole surrounds add a great deal to DD/DTS and DPL.
I had a pair of $20 indoor/outdoor speakers serving duty as rears for a long time. They were actually pretty good as I got a deal. I upgraded to a pair of dedicated surrounds and noticed a much better rear effect.Make it Funky! -
My front Speakers fare Polk RT800I and the center speaker is CS400.
I just have Indoor/Outdoor ones in the back but I don't really hear good sound out of them.

With no back wall you will be better off with a suround speaker. With a back wall good diffused surround effect can be achieved by pointing normal bookshelf speakers towards the back of the room.-izafar

Someone at Goodguys told me the opposite, he said if there is no back wall then the Bookshelf speakers are bettter. He said with surround sound speaders the sound travels backwards and bounces off of other walls... did anyone have personal experience?
