This has me very perplexed

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090807/ap_on_re_us/us_wrong_way_crash

On the one hand, the family of the 3 killed by her want to press charges or sue so maybe the Schuler family has been coached to say she didn't drink that much, etc.

On the other hand, she supposedly drank, like, 10 shots of vodka and smoked a little weed before an accident that happened at about, what, 1:00 in the afternoon? Jeez, I like to drink. Actually, I like to drink a lot (uh, quite a lot) but I just can't see myself drinking that much that early with freakin' kids going along for the ride (plus a doob or 2?).

Just doesn't add up. Husband says she doesn't drink at all. No previous DUI's for her? Dunno. Read somewhere the husband is a cop so maybe she was "protected." Who knows.

You know, if you're going to go out and do dumb **** **** like that, please do it somewhere where innocent people wont be involved.

where would that be? Sahara Desert?

I only saw a bit on the tube this morning
    - so I am assuming I saw the family lawyers spin -
but there is something wrong with this story.........so much alcohol....such bad decision making......seems implausible

My first impression (gut instinct) is the husband looked like someone I'd see out drinking.....

Agreed - I just don't get it. How the hell did this loving mother drink so much by 12 noon? With kids in the car. And the husband says she doesn't drink.

I mean you have to be a big boozer to drink like they (the coroner) say she did. But she doesn't have a previous driving record? No one has emerged to say she had a serious drinking problem?

But there was a broken bottle of empty vodka in the car?

She was a respected professional in her field?

A supposed doting mother and loved her nieces?

Husband insists he's never even seen her "drunk?"

I don't get it but suspect an interesting story will emerge as the truth surfaces.

Horribly tragic story chris.:( Too early for the gory details i guess, in regards to who the "real" Diane Schuler was. But i agree, given family and friends accounts of her personality, and the chain of events surrounding the tragedy, i like you, am scratchin my head.:confused:
