I'd do it if they inspect OK.

Make sure the diaphragm isnt melted.

Placement is critical. Much harder to setup than normal speakers.

I know the guy who is selling these speakers and a Marantz integrated amp as well. Won't go into much detail other than I bought an Onkyo receiver from him and he said it worked great. Hooked it up in 2 channel and it worked ok for the whole 2 minutes I listened to it. Once I got it home and hooked it up and ran it in 5.1 it kept going into protection mode. He basically buys stuff cheap or stuff that is broken and fixes it. Nothing wrong with that but be sure you check out everything VERY carefully before buying. He is a nice enough guy though and lives in a nice neighborhood so no worries going to look at stuff. Also, when using these speakers you will need a sub for sure.

He lives about 20 minutes away from me so if you are interested I can always call him and go take a look to see if they are worth the drive for you. Just a thought.

Thanks BigMac, mighty nice of you....I just may have to read up on these a bit more before jumping in. My Sis lives in Midlothian, I might check em out not sure though, I really want to replace my R50's before I do anything else.

Around town here in Richmond there are not very many shops that sell used anymore. Here is a list of some shops and ideas of what they have.

The Stereo Pit (804) 381-5798, located at the intersection of Midlothian and Hull St. (not such a good area and not gf/wife friendly). The store is owned by 2 brothers and they have stuff from the floor to the ceiling. Last time I was in there he had some Polk speakers (the ones with the powered subwoofer built in),DCM Timeframes,Wharfdale,Marantz, and quite a few others. His selection varies day by day as he buys alot of gear from all over Richmond. From what he says he also has a mint pair of Polk RTA12 speakers (not sure if they are the b or c version cause I have not seen them) that he may sell. They are in his home system but said he would sell them though. No idea how much he is asking for anything but thought I would mention this place so you have another place for options maybe.

Ameripawn (804) 285-7296, a pawn shop up the street from me has Polk Rt1000i and Mission 764 speakers for sale as well. Don't know about the pawn shops downtown as I don't check them out very often as the people there are kinda a-holes and their prices are super high.

Blue Oasis Audio in Carytown (804) 278-6790 has some higher end equipment but he does take some trade ins. May or may not have used gear in the back room. Very knowledgeable guy who is a retired doctor that does audio now as his hobby/passion.

Audio Exchange (804) 282-0438 carries higher end equipment but they also take tradeins from time to time. I bought a Halfler amp there not to long ago and they did have some used speakers at the time as well. No idea what they have now, if anything. The managers name is Jeff and he knows his shiot. They are also a repair shop so maybe someone got something fixed and has not picked it up or payed for it in a very long time. Every once in a while there is some of that and you can get lucky.

Just trying to give you a few more options to CL. I know you love a great deal on CL, but who knows, you may find a steal at one of the places I mentioned. Good luck.

I just clicked the link again and the ad is still up. It's legit so I have no idea why someone would flag it.

There's people who use CL that view other regular sellers as competition. It can get mean and nasty.

I met a guy a couple months ago, warehouse full of stuff he goes to auctions and picks up to resell. They make life difficult for him. He had some cool junk  and better stories. Guy doesn't have a life except for that.:(
