Thumbs Up for Tube Seller

Good sellers are not that comon these days, and since there seems to be a lot of questions on tubes sources lately I thought I'd share this.

I bought a pair of NOS Raytheon 5687's from an Audiogon seller (Tubes_of_the_week) a month ago or so. Not cheap tubes at $100 the matched pair. I was very happy with them but after a couple of weeks one of the tubes went microphonic, real bad. I thought I was screwed but anyway contacted the seller. To my surprise, he is sending a replacement; no hassle, and will match it (keeps record of measures). I just had to pay $5 for shipping.

Onviously added to my short list of reliable sellers.

Microphonic tubes in preamps will result in noise, ringing, or high pitch sounds in your speakers. They will also pick up radio stations. I'm sure you'll find the technical explanation if you google it.

I bought tubes from this guy on e-bay. Same issue as I received a "lot" of 5 and one was off the charts microphonic and while he did state he didn't test for microphonics he sent me a replacement free of charge.

I do recommend him based on my experience and it seems selling tubes is his business, not a sideline.
