Considering this is an audio forum....I'm really surprised about the lack of conversation about actual music in here. Who gives a rats **** about Harry Potter and The Broken Vibrator?

Geez, it's about listening to MUSIC on the HI FI....

I think there is a section about music... Oh, wait... "Music and Movies".

Maybe they should start a "Rants" so that unrelated content doesn't end up in the wrong place.

I agree, more music reviews would be nice. I'm constantly cruising Steve Hoffman's forum and other sources for clues on new music I might like. The "what are you listening to" thread here gives me some nice hints of stuff to check out.

Pandora is going to 40 hours a month free and then you pay a small monthly or annual fee for everything past 40 hours a month. Something to do with a court case between record companies and streaming radio providers.

I'm not familiar with Imeem, but I'm going to check it out.

I still have Tour's AAAAA-ZZZZZ R&R music threads saved somewhere. That was a great series of threads that helped me discover some stuff I was not very familiar with. The "What are you listening to" Thread used to be pretty good when folks would give a brief description of the music as well as their opinion of it...but it has gone back to most just posting an album or song title.

What kind of stuff? I've recently started trying to find new music/new bands on vinyl and it's opened my eyes to a few bands that I didn't know existed.

I've also been turned on to some older stuff through the vinyl search; a person I work with introduced me to a psychadelic band called "Fifty Foot Hose".

That band will definitely be a good test for your highs and mids... And the songs with the female lead vocals are definitely the ****.

To be fair, it is a lot harder to really talk about music the way we can talk about movies. Not that music can't be just as entertaining, but it really takes a certain type of person to put into words what music does for them; any schmuck can talk about movies, especially crappy ones. They have plot (well, they used to), characters (well, they used to), effects. A little more cerebral to talk about the subtleties of a song or musical artist :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Use the search function for "Rock and Roll Reminiscing"

    They should all be there.

Jeebus... That is going to take some time... I was just scanning through the "DDDD" thread, and the first page is already a good one; thanks guys.

And I kind of agree with bobman; it's harder to talk about, or listen to someone talk about, music. It's a personal thing for me; so when someone says, "That sucks", I get a bit bummed. If someone doesn't like my car, f'em. My house, f'em. My taste in movies, f'em. But music is personal by nature. It's not simply entertainment; on some level you make a connection with the music you really like; if what you are listening to currently is a cheap date, than there's no real reason to get to know her. But the music that sticks with you, well... It becomes a relationship. Don't get me wrong, there are movies that have the same quality, but less and less in my opinion. Maybe simply because they are more expensive to produce.?
But we all have a song that takes us to places we miss or places that it's hard to stay. It's why the gear we play it through is so important, I think.
In a public forum it's hard to admit what those songs might be or why.
I'd be much more likely to tell what I was watching the first time I made out in a movie theatre than my first REAL slow dance...

Actually, if you watched the movie, when Harry Potter's vibrator broke you would know that he was so saddened that he had to go listen to some music. So that's the tie in. Every time Harry's dldlo breaks we get to hear music :D

Sums it up right there. I can get more emotionally involved with a song versus a film. They can bring back memories of a certain time, place, event..etc. Because, with a song, you can create your own personal images as opposed to watching what someone else wants you to see......Music.. I love it.....

Exactly. I'm listening to Sabbath's 'Changes' right now, and I can remember breaking up with a girl in h.s., and playing this song REPEATEDLY!
