I am sitting here tonight listening to the great Johnny Mathis and am amazed at how good he truly was... for me the equal of legends as Crosby and Sinatra.
What has happened to the "crooner" style of music with the velvet smooth voice and melodies that dripped with a certain sexy vibe without resorting to overt inuendo... This was/is music.
The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

They're dying off and so are the people who listen to them.

There are a few that are doing really well. Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Harry Connick Jr. and even John Mayer to some degree are really wowing the females.

A few female crooners as well, I like Diana Krall:

And they hardly get any airplay....like Brian McKnight. Luther Vandross was one of the great R&B "crooners" but he passed away too young.

I'd like Diana Krall's singing even if she were mute. :o
