Not bad for a Disney family movie, nice special effects, above average sound, I liked it. Would have been better in DTS.

Bought this blind yesterday along with The Mutant Chronicles. Family movie night tonight with this, hopefully it's decent. I do enjoy Rock films.

Haven't seen it. Took my sister to the movies years ago to see the original film.

I think Knuckle..is onto something with these UN-professional reviews.

    Kudos!

I know this was a personal shot at me, so all I am going to say about it is...what exactly makes it a "review"? It was a couple of lines; this isn't even fair to compare to what I provide. What is your problem, cnh?

AAAAND here we go!! No, this was not a shot at you. Take a look back at this thread and compare it to what we talked about a few minutes ago.
If you post a review, no matter how lenghty, don't get bent out of shape if someone disagrees. You seem to take a little criticism to personally.....

You're right... it doesn't compare to what you provide. Moderators, can we rename this forum from "Music & Movies" to "Mike LoManaco Reviews", please? Clearly no one else here has anything of value to say.

I'm stunned that you don't see why people use the word "pretentious" when referring to your posts, Mike. For reference:
    pre⋅ten⋅tious  /prɪˈtɛnʃəs/
    –adjective
    1. full of pretense or pretension.
    2. characterized by assumption of dignity or importance.
    3. making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious.

I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. For what he does, I find The Rock very fun to watch, and I thought he was a great match for this remake (though technically, I suppose this isn't a strict note-for-note remake). On the audio side, this mix was just okay for me (with the exception of a few action sequences), but was pretty much what I expected from family fare.

I'm very anti-remake, but this one worked for me. Still, I couldn't help but think of Eddie Albert and how awesome the original was when I watched this. Then again, it has been a while since I've seen it, so my memory of it may hold up better than the movie does today.

C'mon Mike, ease up....Just consider my post as the condensed version. If you like typing all of that stuff, go for it. cnh is one of the more knowledgeable guys on here, I think its ok for him to have his own opinion on something.

C'mon Mike, ease up....Just consider my post as the condensed version. If you like typing all of that stuff, go for it. cnh is one of the more knowledgeable guys on here, I think its ok for him to have his own opinion on something.

I have decided to ignore each and every one of "'****"'s replies and remarks because they're simply and utterly flaming bait in an attempt to discredit the material I provide here -- he THINKS what I wish for is a section devoted JUST to my reviews as he points out in his asinine "Let's Make This MIKE LOMANACO'S REVIEWS!" statement, but he's completely and utterly off the mark. As for what you say above, Knuckle, I think you misunderstood what I was asking of CNH, as did the a-hole known as "Lightman"...I MEANT ABSOLUTELY NO DISRESPECT OF CNH WITH HIS INPUT HERE...but I was simply pointing out that the title of the thread was a direct pot shot at me because of the moniker "An UN professional review" et al, and I didn't think it was necessary. When I write one, I am not intending to put ANYONE down or discredit their own work; this reference was uncalled for. That's all I meant.

I didn't mean he shouldn't have his own opinion about something -- NOT AT ALL. The title of the thread seemed hostile; as if that one sentence was supposed to equal a full-length review which is being poked fun of in a way by the tone of the post -- I meant NO disrespect toward the member who had his thoughts about the film.

I have made my points in the "Fast and Furious" thread to the imbiciles who have admitted to adding nothing to the discussion of the film there with their cruel rhetoric as well as to the members who appreciated the reviews I provide -- and I have addressed at least one member there to that manner. There's nothing more to discuss in that thread or this one, as commentary by people like "Ricardo" and "Lightman Russ" are simply wasting bandwidth with their empty "threats" and vile language, and because the discussion has drifted so far off course and away from the FILM and BLU-RAY itself, I have unsubscribed from both threads. They can curse and claim their hearts out that "Wow! Woke up this morning, ran to my computer, and saw no comments from Mike! Too Bad! Damn! Damn it!!"

    Knock yourselves out. ;)

Not for nothing, but since Mike is so fond of reporting everyone to the moderators, I think it's time for anyone who has grown weary of the Mike LoManaco show to follow suit. I've reported him due to the disruption he has caused here and his attempt to turn this into his own personal forum for posting reviews. Despite repeated attempts to get him to stick to forum etiquette, he refuses to honor the requests of the many respected veteran posters who have given him suggestions on getting along with others here. Additionally, any time someone tries to help him with his setup issues, he is confrontational and defensive.

If you agree, please let the moderators know your feelings on the matter. Attempts at telling Mike have clearly fallen on deaf ears.

Oh come on Mike; the forum has been boring lately and I really find the majority of your posts entertaining. I even pulled the trigger on a Blu Ray player today; see, I decided to do my best and find the motivation to read your reviews. I can't promise I will read them COMPLETELY, but I will give it a try.

I've seen a rental from Redbox a couple of days ago. For $1 rental, it's not bad. I wouldn't buy it though. Average Sound and Some Funny Stuff there. Enjoyable Overall.
