That's not depressing; I traded in $160 worth of games to buy a PSP so I could play FF7 where ever I am and in October, Gran Turismo...

    And I'm a 30 year old dad...

That might be depressing... If I wasn't so f'ing stoked about it.:D

I got in on Crysis during the beta testing stage. Was alot of fun. At the time though I was doing a sound mod for BF2 and map testing so I did not play it that much after the beta. Crysis had insane graphics and it should have considering the time and money that was invested so they could show off DX10. I don't have that much time for video games anymore but when I do play it seems to be BF2 and UT2004. Older games but I have modded the heck out of them to my liking. Everything from weapons, sounds, vehicles, ballistics, uniforms, etc. has been changed. If I was to lose my versions somehow (I do have them backed up on DVD) it would take me forever to redo and add the changes I have made back in.

To be honest I have no experience with neither the XBox 360 or the PS3. I am a big PC gamer since a young man. Sheesh how time flies...

I have seen a title or two my nephew plays, oh what was it? I think Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare sound right? Is that it? Anyhoot, was quite impressed with what I seen..

Well since I'm rattling away, how well of a blue ray player is the PS3?

Soon to be 43 and own a ps3, xbox360, and a gaming computer. Always nice to come home and kill stuff. My other favorite pass-time is to steal a bus in Grand theft Auto 4 and mow down peds and traffic. Sure beats going to the gym lol.

Dead Space was FANTASTIC. Best game I have played in a long long time. I got bored with Crysis and only played it a few times. Should pick it up again and give it another try.

Just bought this game tonight. I still dont have a video card but I couldnt wait and took a chance it would play. With everything set to LOW, my IGPU does a halfway decent job of putting out frame rates but its still pretty slow. I desperately need a good video card!

Anyways, this is a great game! I cant wait to get a card that will let me play it with the graphics cranked up to a respectable level. Gameplay is awesome and the graphics look to be among the best Ive ever seen.

I was really pleased with my 4850 card from HIS, which is factory overclocked and has a built-in fan that blows hot air generated outside the case. I strongly recommend HIS' cards. It's also a very quiet card. And I've also heard really good things about XFX cards.

I have been playing Crysis in 720p with high to very high settings (I prefer higher level of detail and effects than 1080p with lower settings). I've recently started using the CCC mod/ config settings for both Warhead and the Original Crysis.

Ive made it up to the village Im supposed to sneak into but I keep getting killed. This is possibly the best game ever IMO, 2nd only to Final Doom for PS1! I cant WAIT to get a better card to enjoy these unreal graphics.

When I was playing Half Life and Painkiller, I was convinced that all I would need would be something like a HD4670 or maybe 9600 GT but now that Ive seen all the visual goodness Crysis offers, I want MORE! Fallout 3 is also on my short list to be played and it has some pretty serious graphics as well.

Im thinking Ill at least get a 4850 but September 10th is when the new 5000 series of ATI cards come out so the current 4000 line should drop in price a bit so that will be when I look for something like a 4870. I only have a 500 watt PC Power PSU so I cant go much higher than that. I built this computer never thinking I would get bit by the gamer bug.

The 4870 needs two 6-pin PCI-E connections, whereas the 4850 only needs one. Check to make sure everything will fit together with what you have before you buy. I chose the 4850 over the 4870 for this very reason. Also, if you are going to try to run Crysis on higher settings, you probably want to upgrade your PSU to at least 650W. It's a demanding game and requires more processing power than other games. I run everything else I own on PC at 1080p/ 60 frames per second, but it chugs for me if I try to get anywhere close to max settings on Crysis. On the other hand, it looks better at 720p than any other game I've seen.

Ive got the PC Power Silencer 500 watt unit. Its Crossfire ready so it has dual PCI-E power connectors. Besides, its got a boat load of molex connectors I could use with adapters.

I think Id be ok with a 4870 running off of it. Unlike lesser brands, the PC Power, Corsair and Seasonic easily make their rated power continuously and Im only using a dual core CPU (AMD Athlon X2 7750) and single hard and optical drives so according to the PSU calculators out there, I wouldnt be drawing more than 375 or so watts with the 4870. I think those "minimum requirements" video card manufacturers give are to cover themselves since a lot of people just grab the $30 PSU's at Walmart that make about half their rated power in the real world.

I may just get the 4850 tho since theyre $95 shipped right now at Newegg. I doubt seriously if Ill get anything bigger than a 22" monitor and the 4850 can play any game at that resolution especially with AA turned off.

Just pulled the trigger on a 9600 GT 1GB card off Newegg for $80 shipped. Comparable to a 4830 according to benchmarks but $20 less. Will easily max out Crysis at my resolutions and next year sometime when I eventually get a bigger monitor, it should have enough muscle to put out decent frame rates to hold me over til I can save up enough for something like a 4870. Now I have to sit and wait til Friday til it gets here. Ill probably start Crysis over from the beginning so I can check out all the scenery! Woohoo!

Woohoo! 3 posts in a row!

So yeah, this is pretty much the best game since Doom for PS1.

The graphics are just unreal and I love all the little details like the wind blowing thru the trees and little crabs walking on the beach.

The game play is stellar. Smooth movements and overall fantastic playability.

The story line is quite excellent too! It teases you with a little bit of info then breaks into some good action. The info is just enough to keep you very interested and wanting to move forward. This is the first game since Max Payne 2 that I have to MAKE myself stop playing and get up. Otherwise I would sit down here for 2 days straight.

The 9600 GT 1GB is an awesome card! Im running with the graphics at High perfectly. Im at 1024 x 768 resolution and it will play at Very High with no problems really but High is just a tad smoother and I cant really tell a difference in detail.

Once I dropped the card in I went looking for the molex power connector and there isnt - it runs completely off the motherboard. Thats a whole lot of muscle for such a small amount of power draw.

Overall its an excellent card and will play any game out there today with very reasonable graphics levels at moderate resolution.

I usually get about 30 fps in 720p using the second highest setting of the CCC configuration (optimized high/ very high) in Crysis and Warhead. I can do 1080p in high, but I prefer better effects and higher level of detail than higher resolution or AA.

I overclocked my 9600 a bit and with 675 core, 1700 shader, and 1000 memory clocks, Im getting between 25-60 fps with pretty much everything at HIGH. I had it at 675/1725/1050 and thought that was stable but after Crysis for an hour I switched to Bioshock and 10 minutes into that it crashed.

Im mostly bottlenecked by my CPU Im afraid. Its an AMD Athlon X2 7750 and although Ive got it overclocked at 3.2 GHz, its still not beefy enough. Ill eventually get a Phenom II X3 720 and overclock it up to around 3.6 and shouldnt have a CPU bottleneck at all and should be seeing 60 FPS out of Crysis.

It may also require more of your graphics card to get 60 fps. I think most people trying to get close to the higher frame rates and settings are using two or more high end cards. You might also want to try optimization configs and mods before you do anything else to the hardware. I'm using an overclocked 4850 and am generally closer to 30 fps than 60 fps. Admittedly, I don't have a stellar CPU, either, a Q8200 quad. I'm going to probably build my own computer next time. The computer I use now is a beefed up budget multimedia computer.

I totally agree but Im at a pretty mild resolution, 1024 x 768 on a 17" CRT monitor, and at that resolution I should be getting closer to 60 with this card. Now once I step up to a 22" or bigger monitor Ill need the beefier card.

I think its pretty funny tho that they would make a game this awesome that no computer can play! ;)

Crysis isn't well optimized to play at lower settings. It can still chug on a decent rig at far less than the max res or settings.

Whats hilarious is ATI just came out with a new, smoking, super master, butt kicking GPU and in CROSSFIRE it gets like 45 FPS at Very High settings. Ridiculous.
