My first sub..

I'm just getting into this whole audio deal this year. It's a ton of fun I must admit. Fits my personality just not my wallet. Been researching constantly for my first sub. Probably going to spend 250 tops and I haven't been too impressed with what Polk has to offer in regards to subs. Been considering this one.

It's like 250 shipped from amazon. Anybody know anything about these? Or recommend something else.

For a little bit more... HSU STF-2. More musical, better specs. Good for small-to-medium size rooms. The bigger the room the less impressive they will be for HT.
If you want a musical sub and a great HT sub then you are going to have to spend a lot more. There are lots of threads on sub recommendations on this forum. I would advise looking there as well. -

I don't know how often this deal comes up, but i paid within your budget for my RW-10D, and have to say that it's a HELL of a sub for that kind of money. I may have just gotten lucky, though.
Just a thought.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I would look for a Definitive Technology Prosub 100 or Energy Take 5. You can pick up those used on ebay/craigs list in your price range. IMO those are much better subs than the one you are looking at.
And of course I could not go without saying if you save some more $$$ you could get yourself into the last sub you could ever own. A Sunfire True sub. I picked up mine for $535 and they have seen a few sell for the mid $500 to low $600 range the last month. Got to love a 2700 watt 10" sub that goes down to 18 hz.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -

Build a sub, don't buy one. It's extremely easy and you'll end up with much more bang for your buck.If...

+1 on this. If you are good at building stuff this is a great way to go.
I do have to say one more thing. No it is not going to be buy a Sunfire.....:D
I know you think that your budget for a sub is $250 but I would hold off on the one you are looking at. IMO you will end up trying to sell it down the line for a bigger or better sub. I know you want a sub now but try to get into a sub that you will have for a very long time. I had a Definivie Technology sub as my first and as soon as I heard a Sunfire I knew the DT was on it's way out some day. I did get some of my $$$ back on reselling it but if I would have done the math and waited and searched harder when I bought the DT I could have gotten the Sunfire.
Last rant on this for me. Have fun and enjoy the music!:)Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t -
