For me, it's Sonic Drive-In. I'm not going to drive 32 miles each way (closest location to my house) to get a $.99 root beer float.

    Same here actually.

Although it's about a 25 minute drive. I HAVE been known to make that drive, if i'm really craving a breakfast burrito and tater tots at night.

I kept on seeing the commercials, then i finally went and looked up where the closest one was. Off i went!

Quaker Steak and Lube is another big one that i REALLY HATE not having around. We have Buffalo Wild Wings, and it's just not the same.

So.... yes. I drove 3.5 hours to go up to QSL a couple months ago. I have problems.

Shut the HELL up about your damn In N Out. Everytime i talk to anyone in California that's all they can talk about, and it hurts me deep inside. So i then have to tell them about White Castle to hurt them back.

(Of course, i leave out the part that White Castle is DISGUSTING. They're called Sliders for a reason. You eat, then they just- well... you get the idea.)

Sonic burgers are great! I always get a number double bacon cheese burger from there, and it certainly ranks in the top three or four places I like to get a burger!

You owe it to yourself to find the closest QSL and check it out. It's amazing. The wings are easily twice the size of BDubs, the sauces are better, and they have an all you can eat day. (Forget which.)

Only downside is that the Mac N Cheese sucks. But BDubs doesn't even have that, so i can't complain too much.

I do still like BDubs, though. :)

And it sounds like i need to go back to Sonic this weekend. I think i'll be close by to the one in our area Friday after Midnite Madness at the drag strip, so i'll grab me a burger. :D

Oh god dude.... about all i can eat there is the cheese sticks and the chicken rings.

The burger (is that actually meat?!?!?!) i can't do. Their fries are disappointing. (Can make better at home with Ore-Idas and some seasoning salt.) And the smell makes me nauseous. If i actually EAT their burgers? Watch out. I will dominate your toilet, or vomit in your car. Pick your poison.

Now, one GREAT midwest thing that i was so mad i was missing out on living in the Northeast? Steak N Shake.

Oh god i love me some Steak N Shake. And there's like..... 18 of them in my town, i swear.

Pot Belly's? You have my attention. Elaborate. Never heard of it. :)

I need to find actual good REAL restaurants around here. I've never seen a big city with so many chain restaurants, and not much else. It's depressing.

It's a WAY better sandwhich place, kicks subway's and quizno's asses. It's only like 1-4 bucks more expensive per sandwhich as opposed to the other places I've named but its definitely good. I especially love that they carry cream soda, and they make their own milkshakes too!

    Oohhhhh..... Sandwich place!

Got one about an hour and a half away. I'll have to keep that in mind. :) Their menu looks a LOT like Jimmy Johns here in Indy, just slightly different bread.

    Haha, beat me.

We have McAllister's deli here, they make a damn good sandwich, too.

And the mother of all corned beef/reubens are made at Shapiro's Jewish Deli here. Easy 2lb sandwich. It's heaven.

This thread has turned out to be very entertaining.

Yeah, i gotta figure out what i want to get with the GF tonite. It's way too crappy to go to the junkyard like we planned (yep, she's a budding gearhead.), so we gotta go get something to go with a movie tonite. I've cooked like the last week and a half in a row. Time to be lazy.

Steak and Shake is sounding tasty.

I'll be in Chi-town for a long weekend this fall, probably early October, you'll have to point me in the right direction to good food. And i can buy you a beer. Even though Nik thinks i'm 12, dammit.

Oh yeah, I love getting me a burger and shake from Steak 'N Shake!

I just looked up QS&L, and see they have one in Concord, NC, Greenville, SC, and Knoxville, TN. Surely I can manage to hit up one of those at some point relatively soon.

It really is a toss-up between QSL and BDub's. I did make the QSL Wall of Flame a couple of years back by not only eating six of their atomics, but eating six more to make the wall twice in one sitting. All while denying myself any ranch (ugh), celery or water. 150,000 scoville units of pure bliss.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I eat more BDubs because they're closer. I DO love their Carribean Jerk and Spicy Garlic wings. The rest.... meh. Their Blazin' wings are hot, but not ridiculous, and they don't really taste like anything. Just hot. I have my name up on their wall at a couple locations.

I haven't done it at QSL yet, haven't tried. I get stuck on some of their other sauces. They just have the more complete package to me.... big juicy wings, good sauce, decent atmosphere, and all you can eat wing night is like heaven to me. I can EAT some damn wings. :D

I DO love their Carribean Jerk and Spicy Garlic wings.

Those are EXACTLY the same two flavors I rock with whenever I stop in.

    Tasty....

Carribean Jerk is for my sweet sauce tooth with some heat, and the spicy garlic is if i want salty heat.

The others are just "meh" to me. I get the parmesan garlic from time to time, but not religiously.

I walk right in, order either a beer or a Long Island (girly drink, whatever), and order 12 of each spicy garlic and carribean jerk. And go to town. :D
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
