Craigslist deal.... I think I'm addicted to Goodwill/Craigslist/Uptown Bargains.

Going to get a pair of good condition KG 3.5 Klipsch speakers....

$50, what do you think? If I can pick up the other pair of KG 3.5's on CL for $50 as well, I can pair it with the KSW10 I picked up Saturday for $35 and have a quadraphonic setup until I can find a cheap Klipsch center too!

Oh gosh, I just sounded like Klipsch_fan....uh oh

Just kidding. I'm really going to get the pair since it's cheap. What's the harm? I figure I'd spread my wings a little on some speakers. I've got my Polk setup, Paradigm setup, and growing Boston setup... time for something else!

KG 3.5s are a very decent speaker. For $50, i'd be all over them. There's a pair or two locally that i've had my eye on for awhile, just waiting to drop a little more. :)

    I think you'll like them.

Also been drooling over a pair of Klipsch Epic CF-2s.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

On the way back from getting them (they are walnut, with spikes already installed), I got an unexpected email from another craigslister.... I offered $50 cash for another pair and she said yes.....

    going to get them now...too.

Nguyen... You can't go wrong with those speakers, seems you've had a good day for grabbing some great speakers. Feed them with some good power.

I see they only require 65wrms...... Perfect testbed with my new nakamichi av2 (well its not new, it's new to me lol)

I got a 32" westing house for $220 - which I got for my friend/employee Nolan. It still had the plastic stuck to the bezel it was so new.

Then a pair of KG 3.5s that I offered $50 last week but they declined from $75. Oddly enough, the first pair came from the same exact house as the Polk RT8's that you see in my signature - the same speakers that started my journey into both audio and the Polk Forums in the first place this time around. (I'd joined 10 years back because I had a CS250 and RT F/X, which I still have).

I got back with the 2nd pair - I love that they have spikes built in. Unfortunately one pair is black and one is walnut, but honestly for $50 each pair who cares.

I know some people hate Craigslist, but overall i've only spent ....

    CS101 + M1 + RT25 Bought = -$40.00
    CS101 + M1 sold = $60.00
    JBL 2500 bought =- $15.00
    JBL 2500 traded for TFM25 = $ 0.00
    Klipsch KSW10 sub bought = -$35.00
    Klipsch KG 3.5 bought x 2 =-$100.00
    Total spent =-130.00

Not bad eh? Yeah it's at a loss for this weekend, but overall I think I've cycled the money and spent almost nothing for all the stuff. The only thing I've really outright bought was Tony Millards Boston Acoustics VR-M60s which I've wanted for a long time. That was paid for by CL profits though!

Last week cost a tad more - I got a Tripp Lite ISObar 1210 for $75 - but that retails for $499 or something retarded.

    Yay Craigslist!

Hooked them up and tested. The walnut pair work wondefully! I hooked up the black pair and one of the tweeters is blown. Shows open on the multimeter. I pulled the driver and it had the negative unhooked. Hooked it up and nothing still. Disasembled the horn and removed the diaphragm - you can see wires burnt. Looks like someone played them a little too hard. Looks like I'm looking for a replacement diaphragm. Going rate is like 19.99.

That IS one thing about these older Klipsch... replacement parts seem to be cheap.

You liking them so far? I've been smacking my own hand everytime i go to pick up the phone on these CF-2s.... Been toying around with the idea of going older Klipsch stuff for HT. CF-4 mains, CF-2 rears, a big old Klipsch center, and another RW-10D.

They sound pretty good. Decently efficient - not super high like the new stuff but not horrible either. I'm kind of disappointed the last Craigslister didn't tell me one of the tweeters was blown. It was obvious - someone had already disconnected the tweeter and upon diassembling it, the voice coil was burnt.

I kind of want to upgrade te diaphragms to titanium but that's still $20-40 each and I have four of them to do.

I own a Pair of Klipsch kg 3.5's in oak wood. They are very nice sounding speakers. I don't use them , they just sit around in the basement. Mine has a blown horn in one of the speakers. It just stopped working one day years ago.

If someone wanted them, they could come here and pick them up for a steal of a price.

    Actually yes....

Removed horn and the negative terminal was not hooked up. Someone has unhooked this. The terminals are barbed and nearly impossible to knock loose from movement.

The blown diaphragm. If you look close enough you can see the blown wire, sorry I couldn't upload a full resolution pic (well I could....) because it would gigantic.

These pictures are from the black pair. Will post the walnut pair later, apparently they didn't upload.

Ordered the diaphragm yesterday, it was delivered today. Installed and tested. Sounds great. My NAD Amp apparently needs adjustment. Just aligned both channels to 20mV.
