So I got ahold of the Time Warner HD box yesterday. I was watching the two local channels that are HD, and they look FREAKING AMAZING. Holy crapcakes!

I was watching that Veritas show or something, and it's all lookin' badass and everything, and it's encoded in 5.1 Dolby Digital.

 on HDTV :)

    [begin mind warp]

You will send me the HD box. You will mail it to me at Polk. You don't like HDTV, and you want to get rid of it, and give it to ME.

    COOL!

The HD Box is a FREE upgrade if you already have Time Warner Digital Cable.

My buddy just got one and they supplied the component video cables. And yes - it has a digital coax out for DD 5.1 decoding. Very nice!

I refuse to pay for digital cable, despite the fact that the HDTV feed picture quality is better than even anamorphic DVDs. If someone else in the household wants to pony up $80/month be my guest is what I tell them. Road Runner cable internet is already costing me $40/month - but THAT is money well spent IMO.

Well, my buddy cut me a deal so it's only $1.61 more a month over "extended basic"

I was gonna start a thread about HDTV myself Steve. I just got my HD box from TW last Friday. I already had digital cable but wasn't too impressed with it. I switched from Starz to HBO and Showtime because they both have 2 HD channels. Most of the movies they show are in DD 5.1, with the digital coaxial it sounds great.

The picture on the HBO and Showtime HD channels will make you want to go home and smack your momma.

The main reason I went ahead and got it was it's the same friggin price as digital cable here. And that damn ESPN HD is coming March 30 commercial. They better add that channel ASAP. I was told any channel that goes HD will be added at no charge. All the local networks have HD channles although not everything is broadcast in HD for those fo you wondering.

I honestly wasn't expecting the picture to be that much better than a progressive scan DVD, I was pleasantly surprised.
