Sub Question....Next Steps

I know I am restarting this thread but it was poorly title the first go round and I do need the help. I want to get the biggest improvemnts as I piece together my system.
I know that there is probably a better order to build my system but I was too overwhelmed when I heard this sub. I am picking up a ML Abyss this week and need any reasons you have plus or minus on the move. It would be put to work with my LSi9's and the onkyo 706. I'm looking at 75% music/25% HT. This purchase would mean a cd player, center, bluray or amp will be a another few month away.

What move are you talking about?;)
75% music and already own the LSi9 I think the ML was a good choice. Buying now probably isn't anything wrong with that filling out the bottom for the 9's before buying a center (25% HT) as long as you have something to drive the 9's and some kind of source. If you don't have those and you are forced to just sit there and look at them..............then yeh maybe you did it in the wrong order:D jk

JK,
Thanks....This is a new and expensive hobby so its easy to second guess yourself. I like the 9's with the onkyo but I think they would benefit from more power so that will probably be the next stop. I'm learning that I need stuff I didn't even know existed before getting into this forum.Mains - LSi9's

Hah. Your setup with the ML Abyss will do for now. Your next purchase should deff. be an amplifier. Your Onkyo 706 has preouts so once you add a 2 channel amp it will work as a decent preamp. In the mean time, don't crank up the LSi9's too high, they are very very power hungry and would run the risk of damaging your Onkyo and LSi9s.
When looking for a 2 channel amp to power your LSi9s some amps to consider are: Rotel, Adcom, Parasound. Make sure the LSi9s will get 200Watts+. Depending on your plans for more speakers or not, you could also buy a 5 channel amp to save you $$$ in the long run. In that case, add Emotiva to the current list of amps. Hope this helps some.TV: LG 55LW5600

+1
Shicks is pretty much on the money but if you listen to music critically and don't mind spending more $ there are Jolida's/etc to check out for your Lsi9's if you crave some rich warm music from those fronts

I know some day that I will end up with tubes, it seems that's where the rich organic sound is. Right now I think I have a lot more to learn before I can make that step.
Just set up the new sub and started the auto-setup with the Onkyo. I have already found a whole new range in my DVD's that I didn't know was even there. I'll post some humble opinions after I spend a few days with it but it can really shake the house.Mains - LSi9's

Good to hear....oh and if it helps in case you're ever contemplating making the jump, I made that choice without having a single clue about tubes. I'm still beginning to learn, but one thing for sure is that I love the warm melodious sound it provides to run on my SDA 1C's.Truck setup

Wait until you add the amp, then you will be hearing all the LSi9's have to offer along with the bottom the Abyss has added.
Enjoy and remember it's only money.:D
