I'm liking the dimensional tweets

For about 3 months now I have had the dimensional tweets on my 1A's disconnected. Tonight I decided to connect them again...big difference. With them disconnected the speakers never even began to disappear like they do with them connected, imaging is also better. It seemed before that sounds were coming from the right and left channels but they were not meshing together in the middle(if that makes sense).

Makes perfect sense. I get the same effect from my 1A's. I went back and forth with the dims as well. Maybe it's the acoustics of the room, translation of music through the gear...?? It was just a deeper, seamless stage...

Interesting...I've been wanting to try some SDA's with the dimensional tweets for a while now. I know most people prefer the later series SDA's without the dimensional tweets, but I'd still love to try some out. I might have to pick up some original SDA 2's or some 1A's eventually.

I recently picked up a set of the 1A's from Salvation Army. (Now) they're in great shape, and I like the dimensional tweeters too. I was warned that some people hear a 'phase-y' sound due to the horizontal arrangement of the tweeters. So far, I haven't heard it. Perhaps my ears aren't quite as good as others, but I think they sound pretty decent bone stock.

I'm still in the process of finding some 1C's or 2B's in order to compare.

I had Ben build a A-1 "Dreadnaught" for my SDA 2.3's and I use it for 2-channel music and full HT movies. For movies, the soundstage has such depth it feels like you are in the middle of it more so then with just surround speakers. People can't believe how the audio sounds with movies with my setup.

I believe the X-over would need modification for a dimensional tweeter system to sound correct without the tweet being driven/used. I just won a CRS+ x-over on ebay last weekend (still haven't received it) and will install it on my old CRS's with the dimensional tweets.
I do miss my old CRS+ with the RDO tweets.
