RD0194-1 Tweeter (SL2000)

I hope I'm not breaking any rules starting here, but it seems the best place and I'm sure someone will correct me if needed.

I have a pair of RD0194-1's that are new (unused). I bought them from Polk in 2005 but also bought a pair of used SL2000's from another member here at the same time. I tried both and decided to go with the SL2000's in my SDA1's and kept the RD's for backup. I have since sold my SDA's and would like to also sell the RD's. I don't have enough posts yet to put for sale here and am looking for suggestions.

I guess I can just post a bunch of times to meet the quota, but that seems rude.

    I don't think I'm supposed to post a price here am I?

I'll PM you as soon as I have 10 posts. They apparently increased that requirement since 2005 also.

More info to get my 10th post.

They are in the original protective packaging that Polk sent them to me in. The original packing list is still in the box also.

If you're interested, here's some more detail.

I installed them in my SDA1's but only to see how they sounded. They were not used for more than an hour. One of the other Polk members suggested I should not sell with the tweets mixed (2 RD0194-1 and 2 original SL2000) or if I did, I should disclose that. Anyway, I ended up getting two used Original SL2000 from another Polk member and used them. Then when I sold the SDA's, they were all original and I didn't need to deal with the tweets issue at all. The buyer wasn't interested in the extra set of tweets so they have just been setting in the original packaging from Polk ever since.

Most members say the RD0194's sound better than the original SL2000, but personally I wasn't able to hear any difference. That doesn't mean they don't sound better, only that I probably spent too much time in the past listening to the SDA1's at too loud a volume. Besides, I'm getting old enough that I'm sure the hearing isn't what it once was anyway.

    Your getting there.
Maybe you should look around a little and read some of the threads/posts. If for no other reason you'll be entertained for awhile. You may also have something to contribute.
As you already know you are not to post anything for sale, YET and you know that. Please don't try and play dumb we have enough dopes around, oh yeah one less as of today, no I don't mean you.

Sorry if I offended you or broke a rule here. I've been trying to not do that and no I'm not trying to play dumb.

If I wanted to be dumb, I'd just quickly post 15 more garbage posts to waste my time and those foolish enough to read.

And I couldn't agree more that there are already more than enough dopes in this world. :)

When I had the SDA's I did spend a lot of time looking around and reading threads/posts here. However, I picked up real quick that being a novice I best keep my opinions to myself. Many of those who are the experts here (or think they are experts) have often been quick to blast those of us who are not.

So, better to sit quietly in the corner and watch/listen. Hence my low number of posts and then only when I needed to get replacement tweeters.

You are depriving us of your experience and knoweldge by doing that.:)

Well, you probably aren't missing much.;)

Besides, it helps me to avoid getting upset if/when insulted and thereby have less need for blood pressure medication.

By the way, if I need someone here for a reference, please check with

    "reeltrouble1"

I think he is probably considered an expert here and Ted has been around since 2002.

He is the member who sold the two SL2000 used tweeters to me in 2005.

Oh, and he should be able to confirm my check didn't bounce.

    Am I at 25 yet?

Anyone else here live in the Portland Oregon area? We're headed for 107 degrees today.

So my question is, how do these tweeters hold up in heat? My air conditioning is only able to keep my home at 77 when we have multiple days over 100 degrees.

And somebody told me it always rains here.

    Paul,
The majority of new members here are treated really well. Its the "dumb" ones who get a hard time and rightfully so. To me you are not a problem guy and I am no one to say one way or another anyway. But the rules have to be followed or they mean nothing. Please don't keep your opinions to yourself. It does no one any good for you to do that. Now when people come around and state opinion as fact and they are wrong thats a whole different story. No one whats to send out bad information because that leads to a bad reputation. That said, Club Polk has a great reputation and great membership.
Stay around and have some fun. I didn't mean to imply you were dumb.
If I didn't say welcome earlier, welcome to CP

Since you are looking for suggestions I suggest that you either find a way to make 9 more posts or take them to Ebay. Your not new here and I dont think your trying to rip anyone off but as so clearly stated by Drew the rules are the rules. No one is going to think any less of you if you post pics in the post a pic thread or jokes in the joke thread or simply add a comment in 9 more threads. You have been a member for 4 years it is the ones that come here and attempt to get 25 posts there first day simply to sell something that have a hard time of it. If you want the rules changed PM Patrick C and tell him your thoughts.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Thanks for the welcome, but I've actually been here for twice as long as you have. So, I believe I owe you the welcome. And by golly, that gives me one more post! :p

I promise I will do my best to follow the rules, just as I have tried to do since post # 1 back in 2005.

Thanks for the opportunity to add one more notch to my posting record.

As suggested to me by one of the other long time members back in 2005, I'm going to try to give a fellow CP member the opportunity to save a few bucks on what I will eventually put on the for sale thread here.

By the way, have you considered putting some of your local snow for sale on here? A lot of people around my parts who only understand RAIN are now melting in this heat wave and would probably love some snow.:D

I'm up in W Wa and we just hit 104!!

    Must be global warming!

The last time I remember it being this hot in Portland was the early 60's. My parents took me up to Tacoma for a baseball gave between the Beavers and whatever Tacoma's team was called. I'm too old to remember that much detail. Was it the Padres or Indians???

We had no air conditioning in the car and going up I-5 with the windows open was like standing in front of a blast furnace.

And thanks for giving me something else to talk about to add yet another notch!
