I have the hots for an old 1980s Revox CD player and I saw one on Ebay and bid. I lost however and the unit was sold for $720.

A few day later I see the same CD player on Audiogon for sale at $800 by the original seller on Ebay.

What gives here?

Why didn't the sale go through to the winning bidder?

Any suggestions from the ebay experts.

Thanks

Peter

Buyer may have backed out, or seller may have re-negged on the sale. Either way I would proceed with caution, check his feedback and see if there is anything refering to this sale. Those are my thoughts, no expert though.

    Interesting choice

    1980 vintage - 29 years old
    Revox B226 - CD player (1986 ~ 1994)or maybe a B225

it is really a collectible CD player?

read alot are available in Europe
    that are factory refurbished.

check this url out. says to buy from a REVOX service center
    400 to 500 €.

quote... "Buying from a Revox service center gives you the possibility, in case of need, to send the unit back for a complete check-up, nothing a private seller can guarantee."

Thanks for pointing out that url. I had seen that url before but never contacted them.

I now have contacted them about getting a B 226 S cd player.

    We will see.

    it is an old article
    Copyright 2003 Lucio Cadeddu - www.tnt-audio.com

it could be a fun adventure searching for this Revox CD.
maybe prices have softened since that time.

i just sent an email to Lucio Cadeddu.
let you know if I get a reply.
