Setting up external amp

Let me throw a question out there about bi-amping:

So to hook up the rti a9 and a7 speakers and csi a6 center, I would run all of the cables from the top speaker posts to the external amp, and all of the cables from the bottom speaker posts to my 4306 receiver?

I would also use the denon's pre-outs to connect the speakers from the external amp to the 4306. So I would need 9 speaker cables (like aq type 4) and 5 interconnect cables, right?

Is my understanding correct?

So let me get this straight.

You want to use an external 5 channel amp and also use the amp in the Denon 4306 to bi amp your RTI speakers.

I would not do that. Not saying you can't, I just don't think it is a good idea. I would think you would be better off with using the Denon as the pre and using the external amp and not use the Denon internal amp.

Anyone else have a say? This is an interesting scenario I have not thought of.

Don't mix and match between external amps and a receiver. The gains will not be the same, so you may have different levels on your tweeters and lower section.

Use the external amp for power.

So I should keep the speaker terminals bridged and just hook up one set of speaker cables to the external amp and the interconnects to the denon's pre-outs. None of the speakers would go directly to the denon.

Right now I'm bi-amping the fronts through the denon since each channel has it's own powerblock (which I've heard is important). So I'd still be better off hooking each speaker to the external amp that is 150X5 @ 8ohms? In this case I would only need 5 speaker cables.

I thought you took out the bridge on the terminals and used each set when bi-amping.

Sorry, this whole thing is confusing me.
