Yep, it's coming. Finally, a high quality (Steve Hoffman) release of Morrison Hotel on gold disc. Soft Parade is coming too. I wish they were SACD's, but these will have to do it seems.

No Mike, they are not. When Steve Hoffman was working with DCC they released The Doors - S/T, Strange Days, L.A. Woman and Waiting For The Sun. Long out of print, you can find them used on eBay. The prices may shock you.

Holy Crap! Most the prices are over $50. I have a few gold discs that sound amazing, but I have never heard the originals. Is there a notable improvement or are my gold discs just recorded well?

    LOL....told ya :D

I have all four of The Doors DCC releases and IMO all are better than the originals and much better than the "remastered" crap.

I've found that most gold disc releases are of much better quality, but there are few dogs.

That was a standard lp, with outstanding sound. If everything released only would've been captured so faithfully.

Jesse, I have the first two Door's DCC CD's and they are much better than what's out there! I purchased mine back in the day when they were new. I like the Hoffman CD's much better than MFSL gold CD's and having several titles from each company I have to give the nod to DCC.

Thanks for the heads-up on Morrison Hotel...I'll definately be adding that to the collection!

It seems that there is an issue with track one, Roadhouse Blues at 0:15 and 0:27. I thought it was simply an artifact in the master, but Audio Fidelity has admitted it's a defect. It sounds like static or a clicking noise.

IMO, that reviewer is a bit over the top with his comments.
It’s come to our attention that a number of the “Morrison Hotel” 24K CDs have a possible flutter at 15 seconds into the first track, “Roadhouse Blues”. The rest of the CD seems perfect, but we’re after 100% perfection. We’ve heard from enough of our friends, and we’ve started to remanufacture the disc. This only affects “Morrison Hotel”. “Soft Parade” has no defects and sounds up to Audio Fidelity’s and your standards.

For all of the Audio Fidelity Platinum and 24K Club members, we’ll be sending you a replacement disc automatically. It will be a replacement disc only—please hold onto your jewel case and booklet.

For those of you who purchased the “Morrison Hotel” from Audio Fidelity, we will also automatically send you a replacement disc. It will be a replacement disc only—please hold onto your jewel case and booklet.

For those of you who purchased "Morrison Hotel" from another retailer, whether that retailer is online or brick and mortar, we would ask that you send us back your disc only-- keep your jewel case and booklet. We will reimburse you for the cost to ship the disc back to us and we'll get you out a replacement disc as soon as possible. We will send you a replacement disc only—please hold onto your jewel case and booklet.

For those of you that have listened to “Morrison Hotel” and have no defect, keep enjoying the music.

We regret the inconvenience. Thanks for your support.

    To return your MORRISON HOTEL:

Please mail back to us in a bubble envelope, via Media Mail. Also don't forget to include a note inside with your return address so we may have this when we ship new unit..

Please return the unit intact. You can keep your slipcase to keep your sequential numbers.

We will then refund the mailing costs to you when we mail out new unit.

    Hello,
The open reel copies are very good sounding and also sell for a pretty penny.

Glad to see I'm not the only Doors fan here. I initially purchased Morrison Hotel just for Roadhouse Blues but later discovered the rest of the album and it is now my favorite of the Doors. I always felt they really jelled and Jim's voice was at it's best - thanks for letting us know about the new release.

Ok, here's the scoop. All of the original run of this CD have the issue. Audio Fidelity has admitted that as fact. AF set about to correct this by having another run made and sent the pressing plant a new corrected digital file. The plant, for some unknown reason, used the original file for the second run, which AF caught before many where shipped out. The plant then used the corrected file to press yet another run. My corrected copy arrived today and all I can say is WOW!

Kudos to Audio Fidelity for doing the right thing and at no expense to the consumer.

If you're a Doors fan and haven't picked this up yet, you're missing out.
