Picked up my new 09 version Jungson JA-88D from the DHL depot.

Well ive gone from one extreme of the Bel Canto (class d, small, 5.5kgs) to another (class a, well sort of, HUGE, 30.5kgs)

First impressions are all good. The first thing my wife said was that it looks alot more expensive than it was. Arrived perfectly packed with heaps of high density foam all around it. Shipping weight was 36kgs so nearly 6kgs of boxing. I must say that this was my first experence of shopping os and online. Cattylink was very professional to deal with. They answered all my questions promptly and kept me informed of the progress of my order all the way. They sent me the tracking number for DHL after they dispatched it so i could keep an eye on it.

They do a 120 hour QA test before they dispatch it so there is less chance of it being D.O.A.

Have only had just a small chance to listen and im quite impressed. The bass is softer than the Bel canto , which i expected, but the mids are more alive and the vocals are better. Top end is similar although i think the Bel canto went a little higher, but the Jungson is still nice and smooth. I'm going on memory as i sold the Bel canto a couple of weeks ago to a fellow member. Considering the price difference between the two amps i don't feel like i've gone backwards at this stage. The fact the bass is'nt as strong suit my MA RS6's which can be a little boomy sometimes.

Early days yet and i will have a better listen over the week and report back. But for just over $1250 Aust dollars landed, im pretty happy.

Great setup and awesome looking amp. It should sound even better after you get some hours on it and get a chance to "burn-in" the amp. Forgive my ignorance, but how do Australian dollars compare to US dollars?

    Cheers

$1 Australian is around 81 us cents at the moment.

Will post a report soon as i get a chance.

I think Grant Fedelity imports Jungson into the US.

    Cheers to you as well!

I think you are right on that. There is an audiophile gentlemen here in the U.S. State of Georgia where I live whom I buy a lot of his used amps and equipment from. This guy has some really high end stuff. I go by to see his setup every few months and it is always differerent, but his typical two channel rigs usually are $15,000 to $30,000 USD setups. I am nearly always floored by the way his setups sound and I use his systems as the standards to judge others by. I am trying to get my setup to sound half as good as his. Anyways, he has been ranting and raving about Grant Fidelity amps and integreted amps lately and really wants me to here them. If this guy says they are good, you know they are good! I will be looking forward to your review. Until then cheers and happy listening!

Grant Fidelity lists that amp at $2300.00 USD and you got yours for $1250.00 AUD? That's a smokin' deal on a beautiful amp.

Thanks everyone! Yes i got a good deal. Was a bit nervous about ordering from HongKong but like i said they were very professional. Talked to a few people online here who had got stuff from cattylink and had no problem so bit the bullet.
When i ordered this model it wasn't available yet in australia but it is now and they retail for $2450.00

This thing is built like a tank. A bit industrial in some ways compared to the Bel Canto (which was all class ) but then the BC Retails for $3600.00 here now so cant complain.

The sound is warming up already so should be able to give a report on it soon.
