Picked up some LS50's!
After doing a bit of research on the forums here and elsewhere I decided to pursue a set of VERY nice Polk Audio LS50 tower speakers from the original owner. He told me he bought them brand new from Sam Goody for about 800 bucks, and he sold them to me for 150, which is awesome. They are in very good condition with no scratches on the light maple finish and no rips or tears in the grilles. Everything looks fantastic except for a really random, oddly shaped stain on one of the grille fabric (pics below)
So far I'm loving them. Two 6 1/2 inch drivers and a 1" dome tweeter on each tower make for a very full and rich sound, especially in the mids. They are a warmer sounding speaker than the Polk RTi6, which is what I was using for a bit. I'm running them through a Harman/Kardon HK3380 (80w/channel) with the EQ set fully at noon, and an AudioSource 11 band EQ set to the best of my abilities to bring about a full sound. My only complaint is that they lack a smidge with the bass, but a small sub from my old computer system has that covered (upgrading soon to a PSW10!). Overall a very well constructed speaker (very heavy, too) in my opinion and a lot of fun to listen to.

Other stuff that I just noticed is completely covered in fingerprints:
Yes.. they are on top of books. These are positioned at my desk right now and until I can figure out a better setup in my room that is where they will stay. They sound fantastic where they are, but the only problem is that the closeness of the wall and the dresser behind me make a little cave and as a result the left sounds a little louder than the right, which is projecting straight out into the room. To compensate I've turned the right up a bit more than the left on the EQ, not sure if it's compromising anything, but it sounds fine so far.
Thanks for looking! Here is a dancing bear for you.
