I just went to wally world and bought the cheapest Philips DVD player with upconversion and HDMI ($45). I'm happy!
My first dive into HDMI and all it took was plugging up 2 cables and presto! Great picture and sound... I'm downloading some DVD-R movies now to check out. But currently Diana Krall Live in Paris DVD rocks!!!
Maybe it doesn't take much to make me happy
Regards,
Randy

Congratulations! Its always good to hear that it doesnt really take all too much to satisfy ones needs, although not the case for everyone. I've got an ear for everything and I end up digging deeper into my wallet than I intend to, at least that's not the same for video....:DTruck setup

Among a host of things, I run an older Philips Progressive scan player...4 years and running...hardly ever has any trouble with ANY disc, pretty good sound. Nice picture for a cheapo. And it's played discs players 7-8 times its price can't handle!
Whenever I think a disk is going to be a problem I roll out the Philips. Mine was about 55 dollars back then.
Plays EVERYTHING! Which is endorsement enough.
