1.2TL binding post nut size

I took a red and black plastic stock binding post nut to my local hardware store that has a great stock and found they threaded onto a 5/16" fine thread perfectly. I then bought 8 nuts to replace the plastic ones since they don't tighten down to well and are prone to strip. I hoped they would have knurled circular ones but no, only hex nuts. Anyway I got home and they don't fit. They go a rotation or two and stop. I guess I will try 5/16" coarse thread. Anyone know the actual size?

You could try wingnuts since they dont carry knurled ones. BTW, 5/16 is the wrench size not the post/screw size. That would be HUGE !;)

There are many excellent aftermaket binding posts that are all much better choices than nuts from the hardware store.

I went through this problem myself a couple of months ago. I could not find it at Lowes Home imp. and so I went to a nut and bolt/ fastener store. The expert said metric something or other and I bought some but had your same problem too.

I looked at threads here and bought 4 new posts from parts express( limited budget mindset sometimes)and they were very easy to replace!!!

I will buy some nice WBT's which I can get at cost. In the mean time I want to just put better nuts than the stock plastic to better hold the wire in place. Can you help on that F1? Do you know the size? That's what the thread is about.

Yes when I re-do my x-overs I wil replace them. Not ready for that big a project time or financially. I have been getting parts here and there. I have foil inductirs for the HF side and Mills resistors. Need caps and posts to complete that.

I hope the inductors have similar DCR's to the OEM components.

May I suggest you put spades on your wire as the stock posts should have no problem with them. I'm sorry, but I do not know the thread size.

Ok, I managed to find an original Polk binding post around here. The thread is 8mm x 1.00.

I do use spades and I am going back to the hardware store today to try that size. Much appreciated!
