So we are looking for some new music. What do you recommend? Along the lines of Ben Harper, acid jazz (not too heavy), Metric. Basically we want something to listen to while enjoying a glass of wine without it being heavy bass/guitar and such. Easy listening but not mellow where we will pass out. It can also be instrumental. I have tons of jazz as is so none of that please. Alright, let's hear what you have!
Thanks

The Band. Massive doses of The Band.

Augustana and Death Cab For Cutie are Band that the wife and I enjoy playing in the backround while eating supper or just to wind down and relax.

Check out Thievery Corporation - Richest Man in Babylon.

Their music style mixes elements of dub, acid jazz, reggae, Indian classical, Middle Eastern, and Brazilian (such as bossa nova) with a lounge aesthetic.
Don't let the fact they are two DJs give you any misconceptions.
In terms of, "Easy listening but not mellow" this stuff IMO is very inviting, I think it sucks you in with grooves but is great for background music. Your feet keep moving while the conversation and wine keeps flowing.Analog Source: Rega P3-24 Exact 2 w/GT delrin platter & Neo TT-PSU Digital Source: Lumin U2 w/Roon (NUC) DAC:T+A DAC 200 Phono Preamp: Rega Aria MK3 Preamp: Rogue RP-7 Amp: Infigo Method 6 Speakers: Joseph Audio Perspective 2, Audio Physic Tempo Plus Cables: Cardas Clear Reflection SC/IC, Shunyata PCs Misc: Shunyata Hydra Delta D6, VTI rack, GIK acoustic panels -

Maybe some Fairport Convention? Kind of a Folk/Jazz/Celtic fusion type of music depending on album.DKG999

Here is someone you have never heard of but this guy is amazing. If you like Ben Harper I can see you really liking this guy as well. I can see him being very big in the future after he becomes more widely known. Enjoy.
