I was just watching the Today Show Weekend Edition and they were talking about the resurgence of vinyl. They said sales were up 89% in 2008. But what really got me really excited is they mentioned that vinyl was coming back to retailers in particularly Best Buy. I never noticed vinyl in best buy so I checked their web site ti find they have over 6000 titles. If there is a thread on here about this, sorry about the duplicate. I'm just very excited I have a local place to buy LP's.

I have seen vinyl at a couple of BB's. I buy my vinyl at www.acousticsounds.com or other smaller companies for several reasons though. First of all they offer the same pressings at about the same prices. Secondly, they have all those same titles on upgraded vinyl as well as standard (like BB has). Thirdly, they often have different remasters which if you read the reviews may decide on the remaster, or not. Fourthly, a small company with the true love of vinyl deserves our money more than BB. They have been there while BB has been pushing CD's for profit and leaving us out in the cold. Fifthly, AS and other small vinyl selling companies are actually a little distressed when they find out you got a less than perfect copy of something and respond accordingly.

I used to get their catalogs but don't anymore because I never had the nerve to actually buy vinyl through the mail. I think I will give them a shot. I have been buying my vinyl from flea markets and such as I happen to find it and can look to make sure it is in good condition. Honestly I had forgotten about AS because I have not had a catalog from them in like 2 yrs.

Oh, I certainly wouldn't have any fear of AS. I once got an LP that had two labels stamped onto it and it looked a little funny. They shipped me a new one immediately. I've even bought several of their used LP's and they were outstanding. In the end I'd rather have 30 flea market LP's for a dollar than one audiophile pressing but there is a place for both depending on what it is. :)
