I have a 2005 Jag XKR Coupe and my plan is to put a set of SR6500 in the front and a set in the back....The location of the factory audio speakers is bottom front of door is a 6.5" woofer the Tweet is at the top front of the door and a 3.5" is in the dash. Were would be the best place for the tweet? Should I set up with the tweet in front of the woofer?

What would be the best way to tell if the front speakers are crossed over? I dont see any caps. on the back of the speakers to filter out unwanted freq. from the drivers. My plan in to run the 4 channels that go to the front and Bi-Amp the SR's. but I am not sure if the channels that go to the front are crossed over or not. I know that the same lead that runs the tweet runs the 3.5" on the dash and the woofer has its own.

It is the Alpine system (sounds like crap!!!)

Thanks!

Usually the best place for the tweeter is in the A pillars. This works best more often than not. Best way is to just try them in different spots and see which sounds best.

Putting the Tweet in the A Pillar would put about 24" between Mid and Tweet. Is this not to much?

    Thanks

You know they say they need to be as close as possible to each other but I have had real good luck doing this and it has sounded real good, best thing to do is experiment and see what works for you.

Are you wanting to use the 3.5" on the dash with SR's? The last paragraph sounds like you have the 3.5" and tweeters hooked to the same speaker wire.

The fronts have to be crossed over, I would think by the factory amp if it has one.

Having the tweeters in front of the mid (coax) will provide the best sound but possibly not the best sound stage. Like MacLeod said try the tweeter in multiple locations to see what sounds best and provides the best stage height.

Ideally the tweeter should be placed with the mid. However, a car is the furthest thing form an ideal environment.

Placing the tweeter in the a pillar is strictly for imaging purposes. It brings the stage up higher so you dont feel like all the music is coming from the floor.

For best SQ youll need to tune the tweets to blend with the mids because they are so far apart from each other. If you dont have an EQ or processor you can always flip the polarity between them. This is kind of a "poor mans time alignment."

The Factory has the tweets and 3.5" hooked on the same wire... I am thinking about doing the DQL-8 from Audio control then I would have an EQ to tune the front. How does the DQL-8 rate as an OEM hook-up and an EQ?

    Thanks for the help.....

How is the Alpine Imprint Oem Processor? Should I use this over the DQL-8 Audio Control?

    Thanks

Eh. I prefer to do my own tuning. Everything Ive heard about the Imprint has been luke warm at best.
