If you think the 2A's soundstage is too wide at times then you shouldn't even consider the 1C's or any of the larger models. There soundstage is much wider than your 2A's.

I've considered that possibility before...but everyone always says that the 1C's are one of the gems of the SDA line. Even if I do move on to something different, I'll probably always keep a pair of SDA's around, just for when I get the hankering for the SDA effect. I think the 1C's would be a great choice for that.

Actually, I think it has more to do with the room than the speaker or the model. I don't find that mine present an un-natural soundstage and that it's smaller than others I've heard. In fact, I've heard some of the same models in different rooms where one set up sounded right and another sounded un-natural.

I've considered that too. I think a big part of my problem is my room. If I had my rig in a bigger room, I don't think the overly wide soundstage would bug me quite so much. One thing I've come to realize in this hobby, is how critical placement is. Improper placement can make an otherwise awesome setup, sound like crap.

I was playing with my little 1C's yesterday, wife wanted me to move them a tad(closer to each other) and it did seem to focus the instruments in the soundstage a tad.Not wider, just a little more focused/specific, if that makes sense.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I agree 100% with this. I went from 2A's to SRS 2's, and thought the soundstage was more focused with the later, albeit slightly narrower than the 2A's.
