Netflix is offering the theatrical version according to the website, but what's in stores is the Director's Cut, an additional 25 minutes or so. Maybe NF is mistaken because I didn't see 2 versions at Frys. It's a long movie, so be prepared.

The copy of Watchmen that I got in this morning says directors cut, so I guess there website was mistaken. There has been some instances where the copy that NF rents and the copy sold in stores differ, My Bloody Valentine for instance, the copy that netflix rented didn't have the 3-D option but every copy I've seen in stores has been 3-D.

I got the Bluray Director's Cut for the same price at Amazon, plus free shipping, and no tax. Of course I have to wait a few days before it arrives since it shipped this morning, but I can live with that. My Oppo BD83 arrived last week so I guess I now have to hook it up.

A bit long and wandering (never read the CBs and not familiar with the characters). Mine was the theatrical version...still long at 162 minutes.

Nonetheless the characters are interesting--a lot of grey areas and moral ambiguity...don't want to get into any spoilers here!

There's a thread about the movie somewhere around here. I say it in IMAX during it's release. Yes it's long and from what I understand follows the graphic novel very well except for the ending (which follows in spirit). I really enjoyed it, but don't expect a comic book movie. This one's dense and dark and as you said "interesting". It's certainly different.

Came home tonight, and Watchmen and T3 in Bluray had arrived from Amazom. My Oppo BD83 arrived last week, so I guess I need to take off work early tomorrow, and hook it up. I think Friday night is going to be a beaucoup beer night. Yum yum.

Yes. Watched it last night. The Director's Cut is 3 hours long, and it took me 3 1/2 hours to watch it. Great dialogue. Obviously, the writer(s)/director are trying to make a point beyond what is seen in the movie. I am going to have to watch this movie multiple times before I understand it.
