That's right. Picking them up tomorrow.
I really like the little Maggies and am in line to have them modded by Peter Gunn, but heard these (earlier version) a few weeks ago in a local Audiogon meet and they really wowed me. Biggest sweet spot I've ever heard, and if there's anything that can be called perfect imaging, this is it.
Let's see who guesses.
(RAS members please refrain....)

Oooooo Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter.......I know!!!!!
Shhhhhhhh. I won't tell.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Do we have to guess? Well I'll tell you what I liked recently but they are not full range without the base addition! The Lyngdorf DP-1 (2X2). But these are not 'your's' I would imagine. And there are so many on the 'gon.

Small Maggies...are 'probably' not that small if they are full range...I would guess we're talking about a small floor-stander? And we can work from there? As Maggies need some help on their lower end which requires a woofer or two on the bottom....no?

You need to improve your reading skills. I have MMG's now, and if the new ones sound as good as I think they will in my room, I'll let them go._________________________________________________

Don't have a guess as to what they are, but there is no way you can get any cooler then having Peter Gunn mod your speakers.
That has got to be the best theme song ever.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

So, it's not FLAT speaker! It's a Boxed speakers? How can an OB speakers such as MMGs be beaten by Box Speakers in transparency no matter who modifies it?Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
No one said it was a box speaker_________________________________________________

Interesting now - no box speaker! Is it from DIY type / small manufacturer or the name brand makers?Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
Not DIY, been in the market for years.
I know at least three forum members have these._________________________________________________

Gallo Ref 3.1s?
Bingo. Though not fair, because you probably knew as soon as you read about the huge sweet spot.
This is a speaker that just by the looks never called my attention, until I heard a pair of these old reference:
Ugly as hell, but what a sound.
The 3.1's are supposed to sound a lot better than these. Hard to believe, but if half of what people say is true, then I'm in for a treat.
We'll see how they interact with my room._________________________________________________

Yep. I am one of the 3.1 owners and the first thing I noticed w/ these speakers was the huge sweet spot but spot on imaging.
In case you haven't heard there is also the 3.5 coming out soon, and by soon I think they were supposed to be out a couple months ago. Sadly they make some small changes and are charging 2x the price for em. -

I knew about the whole 3.5 story. That's one of the reasons a lot of people are putting their 3.1's for sale, and the price keeps coming down. Lots of resellers offering them new at $2,300 or so._________________________________________________

Didn't you say they are not Boxed Type? Not trying to be argumentative here but these spheres are a sealed (ported?) chamber for acoustics suspension and acting like a box?
Nonetheless, they are nice speakers! Congrats!Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
Yeah, well, you could say they are boxed, but they are not "square" boxes Plus, the whole baffleless design makes it a whole different animal......and if I said they were cylndrical it would have been too easy._________________________________________________

Yeah! Very Intriguing Design. Using Sphere / Cylindrical design seems to have a difference resonance properties from box types. Nonetheless, Box is a chamber and so are they with the exception of there is no front baffle.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair.
