I just started listening to this again and forgot how good it was, I like this one the best, I guess I got burned out on The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon. Some of their newer stuff is pretty good but lacks the definition they had back then.;)

Animals is one of my favorites. I'd have to say it's between DSOTM and Animals for my favorite Floyd album. It depends on my mood at the time.

especially "Sheep"...probably my all-time favorite Floyd song. In addition to the amazing guitar and other instruments, the lyrics to that one are brilliant.

I love that album! Brings back so many memories.

Yesterday, I was out at my pool relaxing, one of the songs was being played on FM, I was sooo zoned out..... (and by the way, beer and Polk's were also involved)
Then the freakin station abruptly ended the song for a fricken commercial. I turned that station off with bitter quickness--shame; shame on them.

Now I have to go and listen to the whole CD commercial free.:D:p

Meddle is phenomenal. My favorite complete album of their's, from start to finish, along with DSOTM. And yes Echoes is an epic song. Have you seen the Live at Pompeii performance of Echoes? If not, youtube it or just pick it up on Amazon:

"Live at Pompeii" is a must own. Is it available on Blu-Ray, yet? Anyone???

"Meddle" is my favorite(Obscure to most non-hardcore Floyd fans), with "Wish You Were Here" and DSOTM" running close.

    "Echoes" just kicks ****.

"Animals" is right there with "DSOTM" and WYWH"

    FLOYD just **** rocks.

Been getting a a lot of Floyd into rotation for a while lately, as I'm breaking in Ricardo's modded CRS+s.

To the best of my knowledge, its not available on Blu-Ray. In fact, the regular Director's Cut DVD is out of print (at least according to Amazon). Hopefully this will lead to an issue of a Blu-Ray version in the future.

Given that uncertainty, anybody with an interest in Pink Floyd should at least pick up a regular copy while they can.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the SACD version of DSOTM. When I heard the band was in the studio when they remastered the album I went out and pruchased a Sony SACD and the cd and played it in my 5.1 home theater and it was beautiful! Hearing differant instruments from differant channels. Has anyone else played this?:p

If you don't own the DSOTM SACD (and know what DSOTM means), then you are no audiophile.;)

I'm not too big on the multi-channel mix though. I always listen to it in 2 channel. Multi-channel holds absolutely no interest for me really.

Looking through some Amazon product pages, it appears that the entire Pink Floyd catalog (18 discs) was remastered by Toshiba and Sony Japan about 8 year ago. These, according to several somewhat tepid reviews of the subsequently-released yet sonically inferior Pink Floyd box set, Oh, By the Way (2007), are THE reference point in Pink Floyd sound. Man, I hope that these are issued again one day in this format. Here is what one guy had to say about them:

"Starting in 2001, Toshiba and Sony Japan successively released 18 Pink Floyd titles in LP-mini-sleeve replica format. With only 5000 copies of each title manufactured for worldwide distribution, they quickly sold out, then soared in aftermarket resale value, as supply never even began to approach demand. A full set, new, would probably now be somewhere north of fifteen hundred bucks on eBay."

Several of the reviews mentioned this issue:

    http://www.amazon.com/Oh-Way-Pink-Floyd/dp/B000X1LH6C/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1247776872&sr=8-13

Has anybody heard any of these discs? With only 5000 copies in circulation, I realize that it is a slim chance but I'd love to know how they might sound.

Just to throw in my $0.01 (Uncle Obammy go the other penny), David Gilmour's 'Live At Gdansk' showcases many PF tunes and are very well done. It was Richard Writh's last performance.

Here's a REAL obscure one for you Floyd fans...

Look up Music From the Film More

I've always wanted to find this movie somewhere for kicks... It's a real zoned out stoner hippy flick from the liner notes of the CD.

A couple of the songs have a good groove to them... it's been a long time since I've listened to it, so I'll have to spin that in place of Wish You Were Here tonight.

I snagged a VHS copy of "More" a while back. It's a pretty cool movie. A little out there at certain times...but definitely a cool flick to space out with...if you're in the right state of mind.;)

I've got the soundtrack too. There are a couple songs that are in the movie that didn't make it onto the sound track actually.

I recently picked this up on 180g vinyl. If you have a vinyl rig, this is a must have.

Here's an album most likely overlooked except by die hard Floyd enthusiasts. Early PF, kind of a prequel to what was yet to come. Some excellent use of sound effects.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TETELI/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=304485901&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000002UA5&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0N0SQQXC9K300MGKYK6R

I've got Ummagumma too. I must be one of those hard core Floyd enthusiasts you speak of.;)

Ummagumma's a pretty cool album. It has a lot of really spacey sounding synth...cool stuff.

I haven't given that one a listen in a while actually.
