Hey guys, not for me, but a good friend.

She's had a Carver HR 722 for sometime and last night, it just died. It won't power on at all. It sounds like after 20 years it's given up the ghost.
However, I've noticed that classic receivers fetch a fair price and that many times it's something easy to fix... Not all the time, but many times. I'd hate to see her chunck it or sell it on th cheap if she can just get it working again.

I have tried searching around the internet and have only found pay-site manuals or ebay hardcopies of service manuals. Since this isn't my receiver and I'm poor, I won't go that far. But I was wondering if any of you Polkies can help a brother (and a brother's sister) out with this.

Any suggestions are appreciated; thanks in advance!

? Harmon Kardon AVR 55 (dead; replacing with Onkyo TX NR-616)
? Polk RTA 11TL's (FR and FL)
? Polk TSi200's (RR and RL)
? Polk CS10 (Center)
? Polk PSW-350
? Grado SR-60i Headphones
? Fii0 E5 headphone amp
? iPod touch (8 gig)
? iPod Classic (80 gig)
? Mac Mini (as media server)
? xbox 360

check power fuses first (if present)

open it up and do a close visual inspection and cleaning too while you're at it.

Go here if you want a free copy of the service manual or owners manual. you will have to sign up as a member to access that section though.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
