I already have Yamaha Z9 (170x7 + 2x50) and i'm thinking to set up the speaker system with Lsi model: Lsi25 front, LsiC centre, 4 Lsi FX surround, Fxi A4 present and DSW MicroPRO 2000 subwoofer. Does anyone has experience for set up Yamaha Z9 and Lsi model ? please help me. I wonder they work good together without problem ???? I love my Z9 and don't want to change it. Thanks from Sniper

sniper, Welcome to CP. That is one of the few AVRs that I would say give it a try, it's a beast of an AVR. While the amp may not provide enough to get everything out of your LSi's they can deliver, I do believe it is capable of handling a full load of LSi's (4 ohm) speakers. If after you have listened to it for a while you feel you are coming up short, look into a good 2 or 3 ch. amp.
Not sure about driving the pressence sp. though. But 7.1 should be no problem. -
+1 apphd I was writing the same thing and it didn't post for some reason. That AVR is a beast and although I couldn't find a 4 ohm rating for it, I would agree with your advice. Give it a shot and see what happens. I remember a guy awhile back that was using an Onkyo TX-SR806 for the LSi's, and while I would agree that it wouldn't do a very good job, he insisted it worked. The Z9 has plenty of hookups though, including pre-outs for an external amp so if it seems it isn't doing a good enough job add and amp as suggested and call it good. A couple links:

http://www.ultimateavmag.com/avreceivers/1004yamaha/
While Yamaha may not state specifically it can drive 4 ohm loads, as long as you give it lots of room to breath I would agree with the reviews that it can handle the LSi. How well it does it would be up to the listener to decide. -
Thanks wutadumsn23 and apphd, affter read the review on ultimateavmag.com, i believe Z9 can drive 4 ohm loads, but i heard Lsi25 needs alot of power, and Z9 running really hot (you can feel it) sometimes it shut down by itself (never happen for me though), so i'm worry how long can Z9 handle the full Lsi system??? would someone test is for me . Give it a shot and see what happen, sound is not easy for me cause i'm not living in USA, it will take 48 days for shipping from US . What should i do now??? Again thanks apphd and wutadumsn23

If you can afford it, why not give your system the ability to run at full capability?
Get external amps. Your receiver is AWESOME, but it would be hard to argue that separate amps wouldn't be better.Main Surround -

Not sure I'm understanding you with this. Are you saying you have read reports on the Z9 running hot and shutting down? But this has not happened to you, correct? The power supply in the Z9 is pretty stout and probably would run hot with the LSI. Proper ventilation should help with this, maybe even some cooling fans. The LSi25 has a powered woofer so this would help lighten the effort on the Z9, but the LSi do like power. Wait and see if anyone that owns the Z9 and LSi's can comment specifically on this combo.
Your options to play it safe (understand your distance/shipping issue) would be to stick to 8 ohm speakers or as others have said add an external amp. The amp would help with the Z9 going into protect, but it would still run warm/hot. This would give the power you need but still have the Z9 for a processor. -
Adding a "neutral" amp wouldn't change any of the Z9's lovable qualities; that is, it would still sound like a Yamaha and you'd still have all the A/V processing features.
I don't know anything about the Z9; maybe it will drive LSis. But if it doesn't, don't hesitate to add an amp.
What's a neutral amp? My Emotiva XPA-5 is said by its manufacturers to be neutral, and it sounds great, imo, with my Yam 663 and LSi9s, 7s, and C. Others will doubtless chime in; there are many other new and used possibilities. -

+1 that thing is a beast, I am curious to see how it does. Either way those LSi's will need an amp to run at their full potential, regardless of the AVR. Save up some cash and do that AVR and those speakers a favor, lol.HT Rig

If you are talking about speaker wire I would recommend some 14g wire as long as the runs are shorter then 50 feet. If the runs get over 50 feet then I would suggest a heavier gauge, but 14 all around would still work fine. Check Monoprice, and Bluejeans cable. They have good quality cables at pretty good prices and lots of fellow polkies use/recommend them. Links included, lol. they also have sub woofer cables if you are in the market for one of those too.

I mean cable for speaker, for the LSi25 and LsiC is (4ohm), Would someone give me which brand is good for Lsi speaker ? Thanks
-
This is a subject of lots of debate. My choice is a quality oxygen free copper stranded. Monoprice being my first and most times last stop, with your location not sure if you would be better looking more local/domestic. For LSi being 4 ohm I would not consider anything less than 14 AWG (2.08 mm²) if you start approaching 40 ft (12m) I would bump it up to 12 AWG (3.31 mm²).
-
Thanks apphd, I will get Oxygen free copper standed cable for LSi. Please give me your idea for the cable of surround speaker as well. And today the dealler just told me they don't have any DSWmicroPRO 2000 subwoofer in stock, can i get DSW pro 600 sub ??? which one is better choice ???
