So I went to my buddy's house tonight and set up the Monitor 10As on the Pioneer SX 828 tonight. The test was not an absolute success, but it wasn't a failure either. The speakers sounded great, there is certainly a difference from my other speakers, the highs were cleaner and crisper than I've heard before. Unfortunately, I had a few other problems. The cheesy table I brought over was picking up vibration from the speakers and causing a low frequency hum in the turntable pickup, so I had to defeat the bass alot, and in my rush to get everything over there and set up, I just reached in and grabbed one of my favorite albums - The complete works of Scott Joplin- a really poor choice for evaluating imaging/soundstage, it's just a piano... my week is pretty busy, I won't get back over there until Friday probably, at which time I will bring a heavier table for the tuner and turntable, and something a little busier music wise. But even with all the problems, I KNOW these speakers are awesome! The shrillness of the highs on my Kenwoods was completely gone, and the mids sounded much fuller. I can't wait for round two :) and thanks again to all who helped me identify them. If I had found out how much they were worth before I found out how great they are, I just might have sold them;) I'll be back to rave about them this weekend!
