the price is right and so is the voltage ratings.....

anybody hear any bad stories from this brand? its one I never heard of but again the price is right and it has AVR....

my goal is to buy this first now....then go with a 2R20W Zerosurge....to offer some protection from lightning on that one off chance for the worst case scenario which as the story of my life goes....probably isn't a one off chance.

please let me know.

Units like that are designed for computers and such, not audio.

Price is toooooo far out my range.
Also what I want is a battery back up....to pull through blackouts and such.

I dont want the equipment suffering through flash power outages that happen during thunderstorms a lot sometimes.

Right now that is priority one..becuz it is so common....then I know I know a power conditioner and surge protector is very much needed as well I agree.

But like everything else I have to take steps due to budget...and right now they are
    1. battery backup
    2. surge protection
    3. power conditioner

please recommend some battery backups we use in the audio world.

There are units like the Belkin PureAV UPS and APC Home Theater Power units (J15, for example) that work well with audio gear.

They may work ok for HT use, but they are nothing one would want to use with a decent 2 channel rig.

This has no complaints about humming like the Belkin AV.

    Anybody with cons on it...?

F1nut why do u say this?

it has surge protection granted not quite as good as zerosurge...

I can run my projector, Oppo, and pre-amp off it's backup power....and the surge only outlets for the 555.....it's got the voltage regulation so it has control over some spiking.

Why would we need more than this....at least as a start..?

Its got no complaints about humming which is a big deal with most UPS's.....

So you're saying the Belkin, APC, and Panamax units are only okay for HT use?

I thought they were made for audio/video applications.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Nothing about unrestricted power delivery and nothing about non-current limiting means to me that I would not want my amp(s) running thru it.

That said, I've got that exact Cyperpower UPS for my computer and office equipment, it's great.

F1Nut so could one run the amp off the surge only line?....or better to go straight to the wall with the amp?

The other components should be fine tho correct?

I hear what your saying about those features but your not understanding im out of lining and in fact there's holes in my pockets. And I still want brownout protection.

At first, I used a UPS so that my projector could cool down in the event of a power outage. If the power was interrupted there is a chance that the bulb would be damaged.

For some reason, however, when connected to a CDP the sound quality of the player improved. There was less background noise with the UPS's filtering.

    Can someone explain this?

Also, I don't have any amp(s) connected to a UPS. When I say audio gear, I mean CDP's, tape decks, tuners, and (in the future when I buy one) turntables.
