Transfering SW hobby to other home?

How do i do that? Few years ago i kept saltwater tank and i was told that i would need at least a week to properly setup saltwater tank. This is what i did in the beginning and i had healthy tank. I dont want bad water when i house many fish in newly water. If i decide to buy neighborhood saltwater tank with live rock, live sand and fish in it. How do i do it when i will not have a week to properly set up the water? Keep fish in a bucket with the water it was in and use maxjet pump for how long?

Or do i just put them in right away when i transfer whole thing in my house? There are many good deals on craiglist. Advices please...
