Hi gang, just found your forum, and you look like a pretty well informed bunch so I signed up. please forgive me if this isn't the proper thread, I was torn between this and troubleshooting, but this one seemed right. I recently obtained my first pair of Polk speakers when a friend of mine moved out of state suddenly, and left them behind. He told me and another friend we could have whatever he left if we cleaned the place out for the realtor. I have often drooled over Polks at the stores, but having 3 children makes it difficult to part with large sums of money, so I just look and listen, and count the days till they move out :)
Anyway, I got these beauties today, but they have no model # on them that I can see, and I want to look them up and see what they're rated for before I hook them up. I have an old Harmon Kardon AVR35 I picked up at a thrift store cheap. I'm currently running an old pair of Kenwoods in the front, and I bet these are alot better.
I took some pics in the hope that one (or more) of you will recognize them, and steer me to the specs. I looked at thousands of Polk speaker pics on Google image search already and didn't see these.
the dimensions are 28"H X 16"W X 11"D, the twin drivers are 6" (with 142/17 on the rubber surrounds) and the big one on the bottom is a 10" (with sr229 on the rubber) the serial # on the tags on the connecting jack is 90147, and 90721.

Thanks in advance!
Edit: wow that pic was too huge...

Wow thanks guys! and so fast too... way cool, now I can get to lookin' up and hookin' up! depending what I find out, these will either go on my HK, or if they are really musical, I might hook them up to my (also free from this job) Pioneer SX 828, and use them for listening to my vinyl collection... there's really no phono stage amp on the HK, so my vinyl sounds like crap. thanks again for the help!

I believe those are Monitor 10A's actually. Those have the Peerless tweeter, which is typically considered the best tweeter that came in the Monitor series.

Those ones look like they're in excellent shape too. Very nice score on those ones. They typically sell for around $125-$175, but I've seen them go as high as $250 before. Very nice deal at the price you paid for them.;)

Here's a link to Polk's product page on the Monitor 10. It's a different version, the Monitor 10 Series II, but the specs are basically the same.

By the way, welcome to Club Polk.:)

    p.s.

    +1 on what Kawi said.:p

Pretty soon you'll be asking for advice on setting up a nice 2-channel rig to really make those speaks sing.;)

well, you never know what I'll find lol. I had some nice SAE stuff I got at a yard sale a few months back, but I am a pack rat, and don't have alot of room, and when I found out how much it was worth, I sold it to pay off holiday bills ;) I do appreciate quality music though, and once the kiddos are out and I have more room and money, I will certainly be setting up a music room in one of the former bedrooms. as for now, I am putting the monitor 10s on the old Pioneer sx 828, in a friend of mines garage/shop, where I spend alot of my free time. I am also going to use that setup to start digitizing my album collection, which is currently at just under 1,000 LPs. I figure while we play around on the computer or whatever, we can listen to some great music, and capture it on my laptop at the same time. Thanks again for all the help, it's nice to find such a warm and friendly bunch!

Hey Pauly, thanks for the confirmation, and it seems we're neighbors! I'm in St Pete, I was just in Tampa tonight checking out a truck I'm gonna buy over off 41... seems you've been a Polk person for awhile now, nice to have someone nearby to collect/compete with. *grin* but there's nothing in your sig to tell me what I'm up against

Yeah there are a few of us Tampa/St Pete Polkies lingering around. Check out the Gatherings Section. We are shooting for a Tampa Polkie get togehter pretty soon. Keep posted. At the moment i dont have anything special. Pair of RTA11T's, RTI70's, CSI40 and FXI30's but i have owned a few others more like SDA's and couple pairs of monitors.

    Welcome to CP
