Do any of you have any first hand experience and knowledge on how the Pioneer SC05/07/09 line of recievers compare to the Denon AVR-5308CI and other line of Denon recievers plus Onkyo and Marantz? I have read that the Denon is better for if you crave scaling and processing of HDMI inputs, the Silicon Optix Realta processor in the Denon is a best-in-class solution where as the Pioneer is better for audio? Can any of you shed any light on this?

I do have an Oppo BDP-83 hooked up to my Pioneer SC-05 and was wondering if my Oppo was hooked up to the Denon AVR-5308CI would I get a better picture quality through my plasma?

I'm not following you dig...
The Pioneer can be set to just pass through whatever the Oppo puts out. So BlueFox has hit on the right question!
Since Oppos are pretty good upconverting players why worry about buying a 5000+ dollar Denon just for that!
I haven't heard that Denon (the flagship) but I have heard lower models and the Pioneer SC-07 and I'd have to give the nod to the Pioneer on sound. But that may just be my ears and my preference. But there are a lot of ICE owners (ICE AMPS--in those Elites) on this site who are pretty esctatic over their unit.
The Onkyos (876/906 have a similar chip set and a lot lower sticker price as you know!) And they also sound 'pretty' good to me.
cnhCurrently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!
Polk Lsi-7s, Def Tech 8" sub, HK 3490, HK HD 990 (CDP/DAC), AKG Q701s

What I meant was would the video processing chip in the Denon 5308CI hooked up to the Oppo improve the Oppo's perfomance even more in video quality? -

In a simple word "NO". You have a great performing AVR now, I would want the HDMI source untouched, if you want better processing go into the Oppo menu and play around with Digital Enhancement, noise reduction settings, or if you feel you're missing something buy an external video processor such as the DVDO Edge.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
