Hi, I'm Mike and I'm a Musicholic. Just bought a bunch of used equipment off Craigslist and was wondering if anybody has the same stuff or knows anything about this stuff. Or could provide comments or set-up tips. This is my first Home Theater set-up and havn't hooked it up yet (waiting to get new entertainment center). Also looking for my next DVD/CD player, I have an old Sony DVD and a Kyocera CD (not working correctly). Any recommendations?

Well, it all depends how well-tuned your ear is. If it's off then you can get away not trying to buy the best sound/equipment/etc, because in the end what matters most is that youre happy with your system. Your polk satellites and center channel are timbre matched (meaning they reproduce audio as closely together as they can as opposed to other models/series). What you necessarily want to achieve is having the front stage (L/C/R) all timbre matched so it sounds right when watching movies. Your center channel for HT plays over 60% of all audio as it replicates the sound/dialogue as you see it on the screen. As for rears/surrounds you can get away with that not being the same make/model but some people insist they are. As for your sub, well Ill get into that later and in depth so you get the most out of your system. Really though youll have alot of people chime in so get ready to take notes! And btw, Welcome to Club Polk!

Looks like you're off to a great start. Blu-ray players are coming down in price. Check out some of those if you're going HI Def on the TV.
    Welcome aboard!
